Michael’s Comments:
I was attracted to Wipro Consulting’s collaborative group structure and the relationship that Wipro Consulting was in the process of defining and developing with the business units. Wipro’s collaborative structure enables me to feel comfortable reaching across the organization to identify and leverage the best resources. I don’t have to worrying about in which "vertical" s/he sits. The structure also promotes easy access to the best resources to address the business issues instead of creating an "eat what you kill" culture. Given that we have lots of competition to win the work, it is good not to have to compete internally as well. Wipro has many successful relationships to leverage. The attractive part of this is that it requires less new doors on which to knock but more to which to up-sell Wipro’s breadth of capabilities both within and outside of the IT organizations as well as further defining and developing our approach and offerings with the Wipro business units. It is exciting to be part of defining and building a practice (even with the frustrations that come along with that) vs. just sliding into a highly structured mature organization.

Michael’s Background:
Michael joined Wipro Consulting in January 2007 to establish and lead Wipro’s Business Process Improvement Practice. The Practice includes operational turn-arounds, administrative and operations expense management, increasing operations capacity and speed, quality improvement, risk management, process re-engineering, change management, technology strategy, and measurement and sourcing programs.

Michael brings over 16 years of hands-on leadership experience from management consulting and industry. He has significant experience in both national and international organizations leading efforts in operations strategy, turn-around, restructuring, and improvement, sourcing, consolidation, merger and acquisition integration, organization startup and change management, and technology strategy.

Prior to joining Wipro, Michael held increasing leadership positions at Zurich Financial, Anthem (Wellpoint), Capital One, Booz Allen & Hamilton, PRC Management Consulting, and AT Kearney. Michael has worked in numerous industries including health care, retail, fulfillment, manufacturing, financial and insurance services, and government working in most all operations areas.

Michael earned his MBA in Finance and MS in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Theresa’s Comments:
I was attracted to Wipro Consulting because it is a small cohesive community within a large transnational company. Prior to Wipro, I had worked at both small and large companies. I had enjoyed the small company atmosphere because my contributions got noticed but I liked the numerous training and development opportunities at the larger companies. For me, Wipro Consulting provides the best of both worlds. My experience with Wipro has been great and I have learned so much already. As part of the new hire training, MBAs travel to Bangalore, India for two weeks. There, we interacted with many of Wipro’s top management including Mr. Premji. I was very impressed by how accessible they all were. It was also great to stay on Wipro’s campus and see their facilities first hand. I especially enjoyed nightly yoga classes offered to employees in the recreational center. After training, I have had exciting projects on which to work. Even though I am new, my colleagues are interested in my ideas and give me a considerable amount of responsibility. Since my coworkers are very helpful and willing to answer questions my first months at Wipro have gone well.

Theresa’s Background:
Theresa Gilbert is one of Wipro Consulting’s newest additions to the team. Theresa is an associate consultant. She was recruited by Wipro from Babcock Graduate School of Management Wake Forest University where she completed her MBA.

Theresa has one year of process improvement experience. She has experience using the six sigma tool kit, especially the simulation tool to analyze and solve problems and has also had experience in both the customer service and application engineering areas.

Theresa has worked in the healthcare industry where she introduced a simulation concept for capacity planning to her most recent client. She has presented her work to the Vice President of Operations, Six Sigma Black Belts and Six Sigma Green Belts.

Prior to joining Wipro, during her second year in pursuit of her MBA, Theresa completed a Six Sigma project at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She also did a MBA internship at General Electric in the corporate information technology testing group. There she facilitated company wide awareness of Mercury software products and coordinated a software upgrade. Prior to graduate school she worked at a small information technology firm as a customer service manager. During her undergraduate education she completed three application engineering co-op tours at Ashland Inc. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Kentucky.
