Career Path
For a typical software professional
in Wipro, the growth path is as follows:
Developer:
A person who joins Wipro with less than
one year's work experience works as a developer
for the first couple of projects. Here his/her
primary task is to pick up expertise in
various tools in software development while
developing software programs.
Module leader:
After the initial stint as a developer,
one moves to the role of a module leader.
You have the added responsibility of interacting
with customers and leading a team in addition
to developing software. It is at this point
that you decide to choose between a technical/
consulting/ business development path and
gain expertise that helps you prepare for
the divergence ahead.
Project Manager: With
experience, an employee moves to the role
of a Project Manager. Here he takes charge
of a project, sets project standards, works
to build customer relationships, provides
technical assistance to the project team,
develops a good work atmosphere in the project
team, and works as an interface with other
internal departments.
Business Manager:
Based on performance and experience, the
software professional progresses to the
role of a business manager. Here he/she
manages more than one customer. Issues relating
to customer, people, and business are the
primary responsibility of the BM.
Later one can aspire to head any of the
SBUs (Strategic Business Units).

Wipro Academy of Software Excellence
(WASE) Wipro Academy of Software
Excellence (WASE), the first of its kind
in India, is aimed at preparing some of
the best Bachelor of Science students for
the applications programming environment.
The course equips fresh graduates with necessary
skills to work in applications in a growing
software company, instilling the need for
a quality process.
The program registers every student for
an 8 semester MS course with the Birla Institute
Of Technology and Science (BITS –
Pilani). Candidates will get to work on
live projects on successful completion of
the semesters !
e- Learning The old school
of training is no longer valid. The archaic
system now gives way to ‘Virtual Campus’-
a web-based learning initiative that integrates
multimedia, instructor led and real time
learning techniques into a facilitated,
collaborative learning environment. Taking
the challenge of time head-on, this initiative
is a part of our larger game plan to keep
us abreast of the changing times.
‘Virtual Campus’ runs with an
objective to build a vast learning community
on the net. The facility of ‘Training
on demand’ enables the individual
to be in complete charge of his/her own
learning experience. It is available for
the entire base of employees and addresses
the ever-changing training needs.
The Key Components are:
- e-learning portal (a web interface for
courseware on a variety of topics)
- e-learning content
- value added tools (including : virtual
discussion rooms, bulletin board and chat
software)

programmes, CBT and instructor-led training)
Educational tie-ups Your
education is never hampered upon joining
Wipro. We help you build on the existing
qualifications you have, through our associations
with some elite institutions.
- Wipro sponsors employees for an MS degree
in software engineering and telecommunications
in Bangalore from the Illinois Institute
of Technology, Chicago. The courses are
taught via interactive distance learning
technologies.
- Wipro has initiated a Post-Graduate
program in Software Management (PGSM)
with IIM, Bangalore. The three-year program
aims to build project management expertise
and every year 20 Wiproites are enrolled.
- Wipro has a program for middle management
to undergo a 5-week course in software
skills from the Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore.
- Wipro in association with BITS-Pilani
offers campus recruits an option to enroll
for an MS program in software engineering.
Wipro Leaders Program We
not only groom your technical talents but
also bring out the leader in you. Our Leadership

for successfully heading large and strong
teams. The program is designed to identify
the specific actions and attitudes that
