Job Description

Located in Germany this position is a technical engineer responsible for support and development of Field Telecommunication and network services at the Rheinland Energy & Chemicals Park.

Responsibility includes but not limited to all systems details within the telecom reference architecture document. Small project survey, design support and implementation.

The role reports into the Sr. Site Operations Lead Germany and has a dotted line to the Site Operations Lead for Rheinland.

Special Challenges: ͏

The successful candidate will support multiple production installations across the site.

A proven ability to work safely without direct supervision in an operational production environment is essential.

Strong ownership that ensures proactive and further active involvement in all projects that have IT infrastructure/operations element.

Strong dotted line to local natural team (e.g. Real Estate/HSSE/Asset Protection) supporting all aspects of site(s) operations.

Working with and/or directing telecom vendors.

Business proximate role.

Unique Skills & Requirements of the Posting͏:

  • The key skills are the ability to manage the plant legacy telecommunications equipment safely and effectively, e.g. Avaya, Radios, mobile devices, push to talk.
  • Understanding the priorities when considering safety and operations and ensuring faults are appropriately and correctly escalated to support integrated service providers.
  • Liaise with project managers to assist with site survey and implementation of new equipment installations on the offshore locations.
  • Accommodate additional demands onto the network, for example to support production unit turn around activities.
  • Knowledge of networking infrastructure.
  • Manage network equipment.
  • Maintain site network landscape overview.
  • To provide advice to site staff on all matters relating to telecoms and IT systems, making them aware of any areas in which they may have a concern.
  • Be part of the telecoms on-call rota for out of hours support
