Role Purpose

Key responsibilities in a Splunk cybersecurity job
- Data ingestion and management
Collect and process security data from various sources (network devices, servers, applications) using Splunk forwarders, ensuring proper data parsing and normalization.
- Dashboard and report creation
Develop customized dashboards and reports visualizing key security metrics, trends, and anomalies using Splunk's search processing language (SPL).
- Alert configuration
Set up real-time alerts based on security rules and custom logic to proactively detect potential threats and security incidents.
- Security use case development
Design and implement Splunk security use cases to identify malicious activity, such as suspicious login attempts, unusual network traffic patterns, or potential malware behavior.
- Incident response
Investigate security incidents by analyzing Splunk data, correlating events, and providing insights to support incident response teams.
- Threat intelligence integration
Incorporate external threat intelligence feeds into Splunk to enhance threat detection capabilities.
- Compliance monitoring
Utilize Splunk to monitor compliance with security regulations and industry standards by generating relevant reports.
- Splunk administration
Manage Splunk infrastructure, including user access, data indexing, and performance optimization.
Required skills for a Splunk cybersecurity role:
- Proficiency in Splunk
Strong understanding of Splunk architecture, search processing language (SPL), data models, and reporting capabilities.
- Cybersecurity knowledge
Familiarity with common security concepts, threat vectors, and industry best practices.
- Data analysis skills
Ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Scripting and programming knowledge
Basic understanding of scripting languages like Python can be beneficial for automation tasks.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and interpret security alerts effectively.
The potential compensation for this role is based on labor costs in local markets, as well as the job-related skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate. Expected base pay for this role ranges from $100,000 to $115,000. $100,000 to $145,000 for California . Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro’s standard benefits and additional compensation offerings, including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options as well as potential incentive or variable compensation.
