Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide significant technical expertise in architecture planning and design of the concerned tower (platform, database, middleware, backup etc) as well as managing its day-to-day operations

Job Summary:
PostgreSQL DBA to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of hands-on experience in managing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security of our database systems while working closely with development and operations teams to provide seamless support for ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL databases, ensuring their high availability and performance.
- Perform regular database tuning and performance optimization.
- Monitor and manage database security, including backups, disaster recovery plans, and user roles.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance bottlenecks, errors, and downtime.
- Conduct regular maintenance activities such as indexing, vacuuming, and upgrades to newer PostgreSQL versions.
- Automate routine database tasks using scripts and tools.
- Design and implement database backup and recovery solutions.
- Work closely with developers to optimize SQL queries and ensure efficient schema design.
- Ensure data integrity and implement appropriate data retention policies.
- Collaborate with the infrastructure team to configure, manage, and monitor PostgreSQL in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Provide on-call support for critical database operations and incidents.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, and clustering.
- Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
- Hands-on experience with backup, recovery, and database security practices.
- Familiarity with database monitoring tools (e.g., pgAdmin, Nagios, Datadog).
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with database migration and upgrades.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases or other relational database systems.
