Job Description
Application Engineer
Responsible for developing, testing, and integrating core application components into both stateful Physical and stateless VDI virtual platforms. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in application engineering, with experience in integrating applications into an enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, integrate, and maintain a portfolio of approximately 50 core applications into the desktop
physical and virtual build environments.
Gather engineering requirements using internal and external business data and feedback.
Engineer solutions for core applications such as Office 365, Chrome, Edge, and Acrobat, etc. simplifying and
automating implementation procedures.
Collaborate with various platform engineering teams on proof-of-concepts, pilots, minimum viable product,
business cases, and software quality control.
Partner with platform engineering teams to research and implement AI capabilities into various application
engineering and testing solutions.
Stay updated on AI and automation advancements in order to leverage capabilities into the enterprise
environment.
Provide engineering level technical support for the core application portfolio of ~ 50 applications. Release
assist article for support teams as needed.
Partner with the application performance team and analyze application performance and optimize as needed.
Document Core Application Engineering implementations, including designs, implementation, and testing.
Design, test, and implement Group Policy Objects for Browser and Office security settings.
Engineer User personalization using VMware Dynamic Environment Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven ability to engineer, test, and deploy complex applications into a cloud environment.
Strong knowledge of integrating MS Office, Google Chrome, Adobe Acrobat, Accessibility tools, etc.
into various physical and virtual platforms.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven experience in developing and implementing automation solutions and hands on experience
with AI technologies.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
Extensive Experience with Group Policy Object (GPOs) and Microsoft Active Directory (AD), user
personalization such DEM.
Understanding of Application Virtualization technologies such as Microsoft App-V and Numecent
Experience with AI frameworks and tools such as Copilot, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical
information to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with application engineering, testing, packaging and deployment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Azure Cloud, App-V & Numecent application virtualization
Expertise in Active Directory, Scripting and Group Policy Objects.
Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision technologies.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and GitLab tools for continuous integration and de

Do
- Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects in own tower (platform/dbase/ middleware/ backup)
- Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/ middleware/ database/ back up etc. according to various system requirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensible solution
- Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the current and future requirements
- Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlying technologies to ensure smooth functioning of the installed databases and applications/ platforms, as applicable
- Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and create and implement backup and recovery plans
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the tower
- Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting any issues, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and developing fixes to avoid similar issues.
- Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions for own tower
- Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways to improve efficiency, fine tune performance and reduce performance challenges
- Develop shift roster for the team to ensure no disruption in the tower
- Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance etc.
- Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team, internal stakeholders on database activities w.r.t. progress, updates, status, and next steps
- Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP) through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency and effectiveness
