Role:  Oracle  Database Administrator :hyderabad 

 

Primary Skills (Must have skills):

Your Role:

  • Provide SME support for more than 16,000 Oracle or PostgreSQL databases .
  • Develop your career in Data Science, DevOps, and SRE model to build solutions around database platforms.
  • Influence other SMEs and IT Stakeholders.
  • Work within the global database and data analytical organization to provide high-level database expertise for day-to-day support of production and development environments .

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement automated solutions leveraging DevOps constructs .
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Database Product and functionalities in Oracle.
  • Analyze and resolve database performance issues.
  • Provide expert opinions, design solutions, and implement automations .
  • Support the Service & Product Manager across several technical domains.
  • Ensure workflows, processes, tooling, and applications are of the highest quality standard.
  • Contribute expertise to the management of existing and new IT database products and services.
  • Define workarounds for known errors and initiate process improvements.
  • Perform SME activities for complex High Availability and Disaster Recovery, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and database administration.

Your Team:

  • Work in the Domain Expert team in Infrastructure and Platform function in Nashville.
  • Provide database design, administration, and build database roadmap for 16,000 databases for UBS globally.
  • Maintain very large databases (350TB largest) and implement proven Oracle and PostgreSQL technologies like Data Guard, Real Application Cluster, Goldengate, Patroni, Oracle Enterprise Manager, OID, etc. to support high availability and BCM resiliency.
  • Host Trading, Clearing, Regulatory, and Financial systems for all business streams in UBS.
  • Maintain SLAs, achieve MTTR, certify database products, and implement automation to improve processes and tools.

Your Expertise:

  • Ideally 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle database administration.
  • Proficient with software development and automation processes using Python, iPSoft, Splunk
  • Ability to solve complex issues, good at problem statement analysis and solution design thinking.
  • Track record of influencing senior IT stakeholders and business partners.
  • Confident communicator that can explain technology to non-technical audiences .
  • Capable of understanding client needs and translating this into products and services .

Do

  • Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects in own tower (platform/dbase/ middleware/ backup)
    • Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/ middleware/ database/ back up etc. according to various system requirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensible solution
    • Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the current and future requirements
    • Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlying technologies to ensure smooth functioning of the installed databases and applications/ platforms, as applicable
    • Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and create and implement backup and recovery plans
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the tower
    •  Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting any issues, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and developing fixes to avoid similar issues. 
    • Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions for own tower
    • Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways to improve efficiency, fine tune performance and reduce performance challenges
    • Develop shift roster for the team to ensure no disruption in the tower
    • Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance etc.
    • Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team, internal stakeholders on database activities w.r.t. progress, updates, status, and next steps
    • Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP) through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency and effectiveness

    • Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement within the team
