Software Asset Management

Rate :- 160K/M

Server Software Asset Management – Level 2 (L2)

Role Title: Software Asset Management Analyst / SAM Operations Analyst

Role Summary

The Server Software Asset Management Level 2 role is responsible for day-to-day operational support of the Server Software Asset Management function, ensuring accurate license inventory, compliance monitoring, and operational reporting. The role focuses on execution, validation, and coordination, while escalating complex licensing interpretations and optimization scenarios to Level 3.

Key Responsibilities

Operational SAM Support

· Operate and monitor the Software Asset Management platform (e.g., Flexera or equivalent), ensuring discovery imports, inventory feeds, and entitlement data loads complete successfully.

· Perform daily and weekly operational checks on license consumption, reconciliation jobs, and data refresh schedules.

· Validate discovered software inventory across on-prem and cloud environments against expected sources.

Compliance & Remediation Support

· Identify unauthorized, over-allocated, or non-compliant software installations based on predefined rules and reports.

· Raise, track, and coordinate remediation tickets with Server, Cloud, and Deskside support teams.

· Support compliance activities during internal reviews and vendor audit preparation by gathering standard evidence and reports.

Reporting & Documentation

· Generate routine compliance, usage, and exposure reports for stakeholders.

· Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles related to SAM processes.

· Update asset and license records in ITSM/CMDB systems as required.

Process Adherence

· Follow defined ITSM, change management, and security policies when performing SAM activities.

· Escalate data quality issues, tooling gaps, or licensing anomalies to Level 3.

Skills & Experience

· 3–5 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or License Compliance operations.

· Hands-on experience with SAM tools (Flexera preferred) and familiarity with server licensing concepts.

· Strong coordination skills and ability to work across infrastructure and security teams.

· Working knowledge of ITSM tools and CMDB concepts.

On-Call Requirement

· Must be open to an on-call support model, including participation in after-hours support for critical SAM platform or compliance incidents, as defined by SLAs.

 

 

 

 

Server Software Asset Management – Level 3 (L3)

Role Title: Software Asset Management Lead / Licensing SME

Role Summary

The Server Software Asset Management Level 3 role serves as the subject matter expert and technical authority for server software licensing and SAM tooling. This role is accountable for license optimization, audit defense, complex licensing models, and governance, while providing senior escalation support and strategic recommendations to reduce risk and cost.

Key Responsibilities

Licensing Expertise & Optimization

· Own and manage complex server licensing models (e.g., per-core, virtualization, subscription, hybrid/cloud licensing).

· Calculate and maintain the Effective License Position (ELP) for major vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM).

· Identify and recommend license optimization and cost-reduction opportunities, including re-harvesting and right-sizing initiatives.

Audit & Compliance Leadership

· Act as the primary SAM escalation point for internal audits, vendor audits, and regulatory reviews.

· Produce and validate audit-ready evidence packs, ensuring defensibility of compliance positions.

· Define compliance standards, thresholds, and governance controls for the SAM program.

Platform Governance & Integrations

· Own the SAM tool configuration and governance model, including reconciliation logic, normalization rules, and data models.

· Oversee integrations between SAM tools, ITSM, CMDB, discovery tools, and cloud platforms.

· Troubleshoot complex data, reconciliation, and performance issues within the SAM ecosystem.

Strategy, Mentorship & Continuous Improvement

· Define and improve SAM processes, controls, and operating procedures.

· Mentor and guide Level 2 analysts, providing technical direction and quality oversight.

· Partner with Procurement, Security, Infrastructure, and Finance teams on licensing strategy and renewals.

Skills & Experience

· 7+ years of experience in Software Asset Management and enterprise software licensing.

· Deep expertise in server and data center licensing, including virtualized and cloud-integrated environments.

· Strong experience with SAM platforms (Flexera or equivalent) and audit defense scenarios.

· Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive governance in regulated enterprise environments.

On-Call Requirement

· Must be open to an on-call support model and act as the final escalation point for critical licensing, audit, or SAM platform incidents.
