Job Description

As an Accessibility Engineer at Wipro Technologies-USA, you will play a pivotal role in embedding accessibility directly into our clients' e-commerce web platforms. Your daily tasks will revolve around conducting rigorous accessibility design reviews, defining and enforcing engineering requirements, and delivering code solutions that meet high accessibility standards. Occasionally, you will validate web experiences to ensure they comply with industry best practices.

You will be an integral member of multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating extensively with project managers, UX/UI designers, quality assurance testers, and engineers. Your expertise will guide design revisions and development approaches, ensuring that accessibility is deeply woven into every stage of the project lifecycle. Your contributions will not only enhance user experiences for a broad audience but also help uphold Wipro's commitment to inclusivity and legal compliance.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, design, and accessibility, influencing cutting-edge digital transformation initiatives on a large scale. Your efforts will help shape a more inclusive digital ecosystem, enabling inclusive and barrier-free access for all users.

  • Innovate and implement engineering solutions that effectively prevent or overcome accessibility challenges, promoting best practices and novel methodologies.
  • Clearly communicate technical and conceptual accessibility problems and solutions to diverse stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding across both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Design and deliver compelling keynote presentations and training sessions to educate engineers, designers, and content creators about accessibility principles and inclusive design.
  • Lead efforts in modifying codebases to enhance accessibility of web experiences by applying expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA standards.
  • Create functional prototypes to demonstrate accessible behaviors and user experience expectations, facilitating design and development alignment.

͏

Qualifications and Skills

  • Between 5 to 8 years of professional experience in reviewing and improving design mockups to enhance interaction accessibility and overall user experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience identifying and resolving accessibility issues within web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with demonstrable success in proposing and delivering effective code solutions.
  • Proficient and up-to-date knowledge of ARIA 1.2 specifications and WCAG 2.2 guidelines, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with assistive technologies and accessibility features, including but not limited to: VoiceOver, Hover Text, Switch Control, Voice Control, Invert Colors, Speak Screen, and Reduce Motion settings.
  • Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks, notably React, to build accessible and high-performing web applications.
  • Strong command of version control systems like Git, enabling effective collaboration and streamlined development workflows.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex accessibility concepts clearly across various teams.
