Role Summary

We are looking for a Senior Associate – QA Automation with strong hands-on expertise in WebDriver IO (UI automation) and API testing (automation + validation), along with excellent analytical skills and leadership qualities. The ideal candidate is Agile-driven, proactive, and capable of independently owning test automation strategy and execution while mentoring team members and driving quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Quality Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI automation frameworks using WebdriverIO (TypeScript/JavaScript).
  • Build and execute API test automation suites for REST services using tools such as Postman/Newman, SuperTest, Rest Assured (if applicable), or similar frameworks.
  • Create robust test scripts covering functional, regression, smoke, and end-to-end scenarios across UI + APIs.
  • Implement automation best practices: stable locators, reusable utilities, reporting, parallel execution, retries, and CI/CD readiness.
  • Perform test result analysis, identify patterns in failures, and drive root cause analysis (RCA) to closure.

Test Strategy & Execution

  • Own and drive test planning, test case design, coverage analysis, and risk-based testing.
  • Ensure quality gates for releases: entry/exit criteria, defect triage, severity assessment, and release sign-off inputs.
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and DevOps to ensure early testing and shift-left quality.

Leadership & Mentoring

  • Act as a module/team quality lead, guiding junior engineers on automation, testing practices, and troubleshooting.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives: framework optimization, test coverage enhancement, and reduced execution time.
  • Participate in hiring/interviews, onboarding, and team capability building (as needed).

Agile Delivery

  • Work in Agile/Scrum teams and actively contribute to ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, refinement, retrospectives.
  • Ensure test automation aligns with sprint goals and that quality is embedded throughout the SDLC.
  • Promote Agile quality mindset: Definition of Ready/Done, testability, and continuous delivery practices.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with WebdriverIO for UI automation (JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Proven experience in API testing (manual + automation) for RESTful APIs including validations for status codes, headers, payloads, schemas.
  • Strong analytical skills: debugging, RCA, identifying test gaps, data analysis from reports/logs.
  • Solid understanding of test fundamentals: test design techniques, defect lifecycle, test reporting.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 .

 

Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
