Job Title: GHG Emissions Inventory Consultant

Role Purpose

The GHG Emissions Inventory Consultant will play a pivotal role in transforming complex environmental data into actionable insights that drive strategic business decisions. This position demands comprehensive expertise in interpreting greenhouse gas emissions data and converting it into comprehensive reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations that highlight opportunities for improving sustainability and operational efficiency. The consultant will collaborate with diverse teams, ensuring that data-driven insights contribute meaningfully to sustainability strategies and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a critical interface between data science, environmental policy, and business functions, aiming to advance the company's commitment to reducing carbon footprint and enhancing environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and manage the full technical scope of GHG emissions projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with client objectives and regulatory requirements.
  2. Aggregate data from multiple sources including data warehouses, integration platforms, and modeling tools; critically analyze patterns and trends to inform sustainability initiatives.
  3. Design, implement, and continuously improve record management processes and data governance policies to maintain the integrity and security of emissions data.
  4. Develop and nurture collaborative relationships across all organizational levels within client companies to fully grasp data requirements and provide tailored insights.
  5. Deliver comprehensive data insights, sales analytics, and account reviews to clients, emphasizing opportunities for automation and increased efficiency.
  6. Create, deploy, and maintain automated workflows for data processing to streamline reporting and reduce errors.
  7. Evaluate external tools and services for data cleansing and validation to enhance data quality and reporting accuracy.
  8. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data accuracy, report delivery timeliness, and customer satisfaction to support continual improvement.
  9. Lead the analysis and interpretation of intricate datasets related to clients’ environmental performance, preparing detailed reports for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  10. Design and implement custom surveys as required by clients, analyzing resultant data to extract meaningful insights and support decision-making.
  11. Create compelling visual data representations, including dashboards and sector benchmarking reports, to communicate business performance effectively.
  12. Develop predictive analytics models to forecast emissions trends, aiding clients in proactive sustainability planning.

Primary Duties and Experience Profile

  • Leading consulting engagements focused on sustainability strategy, greenhouse gas emissions calculations across Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks, performance analytics, environmental impact assessments, and comprehensive sustainability business transformations.
  • Assisting clients with accurate carbon measurement methodologies and disclosure processes, including product carbon footprinting where applicable, to support corporate sustainability objectives.
  • Supporting clients in preparation for and during third-party audits of GHG emissions inventories, ensuring all data is audit-ready and compliant with industry standards.
  • Implementing rigorous data governance, validation protocols, and analytics practices to guarantee decision-grade GHG data integrity and reliability.
  • Collaborating across cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand, refine, document, and validate client business processes and system requirements linked to GHG emissions calculation and reporting.
  • Participating across the entire project lifecycle of GHG information system implementations and enhancements, including requirements definition, calculation template configuration, system and user acceptance testing, as well as training and change management initiatives.
  • Providing expert support and continuous improvement for leading GHG software platforms such as Cority EMS/Enviance, Enablon, and Sphera.
  • Designing and developing custom analytical tools, reports, and dashboards to effectively monitor and communicate GHG emissions and overall sustainability performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience (5-7 years) in GHG emissions inventory calculations, with a deep understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emission categories.
  • Proven expertise in GHG emissions inventory reporting and thorough knowledge of recognized ESG and sustainability frameworks and standards such as ISSB/IFRS S1 & S2, SASB, TCFD, GRI, or their equivalents.
  • Industry experience is highly valued, particularly in the Oil & Gas sector; candidates with relevant background in other asset-intensive industries will also be considered.
  • Proficiency with Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS), and Sustainability software platforms, including but not limited to Cority EMS/Enviance, Enablon, and Sphera.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, capable of advanced data manipulation and analysis.
  • Experience with SQL or other query-based data extraction and analysis tools is essential.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and low-code/no-code platforms such as Power BI and Power Apps is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate effectively both independently and collaboratively within fast-paced consulting environments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights.
