Job Purpose:
The General Manager within a function is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing a large function/ team or a critically impactful program.
The role holder is accountable for establishing functional strategies with a long-term focus (3-5 years) based on Wipro’s vision.
They handle new initiatives/ projects that have org-wide implications. They engage proactively with stakeholders in different units, build cohesion and drive implementation of agreed strategies.
This role is pivotal in shaping policies and programs. The role holders manage human, financial, and physical resources with a high degree of autonomy. The role holder’s decisions significantly influence organization-wide performance and reputation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of multiple functional disciplines, lead critical projects through subordinate managers, ensuring cohesive and strategic operations.
- Formulate and administer policies and new processes and programs that align with strategic direction and support organization-wide initiatives.
- Manage significant resources and make decisions that have a broad impact on organization performance.
- Direct the development of strategic goals and ensure the effective stewardship of organization resources.
- Lead program management efforts, ensuring timely completion of projects while meeting quality and efficiency standards.
- Tackle complex, multidimensional problems with solutions that consider the impact on various organizational areas
- Influence senior leadership and negotiate with stakeholders to adopt new concepts and strategic approaches.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address concerns, building strong relationships and mutual trust.
- Oversee the management of a sub function, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Translate strategic vision of the function to objectives of the sub function
- They are responsible for building a strong team under them by coaching and mentoring their team members.
- Establish oneself as an expert in their specific area of work externally.
