Job Title: Grafana Dashboard Developer / Observability Consultant

Job Description:

Seeking a skilled and results-driven Grafana Dashboard Developer / Observability Consultant with 3–5 years of hands-on experience. This role is primarily focused on designing, building, and maintaining Grafana dashboards that provide clear operational visibility across infrastructure, applications, and services. The ideal candidate can gather requirements, integrate common data sources, apply dashboard visualization best practices, and tune queries/panels for performance and usability. Splunk experience is a plus and will be used as a secondary platform for log analytics, alerting, and supplementary dashboards as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain Grafana dashboards and panels that enable real-time monitoring, KPI tracking, and operational decision-making
• Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into Grafana dashboard designs (layout, drilldowns, variables, and reusable templates)
• Integrate and validate Grafana data sources (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, SQL) and ensure data accuracy and consistency across environments
• Implement alerting and notification workflows using Grafana Alerting and/or integrated tools (e.g., PagerDuty, ServiceNow), including thresholds, routing, and escalation policies
• Tune dashboard performance and usability (query optimization, panel efficiency, variable design) and establish standards/best practices for dashboard governance, versioning, and access control

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience building Grafana dashboards (panels, variables, annotations, drilldowns) for infrastructure and application monitoring
• Experience connecting and operating Grafana with common telemetry backends (metrics/logs/traces), including configuration and troubleshooting of data sources
• Strong understanding of dashboard UX and visualization best practices (clear KPI definition, consistent labeling, appropriate chart types, and actionable drilldowns)
• Working knowledge of at least one relevant query language such as PromQL, LogQL, SQL, or Lucene/KQL, with the ability to optimize queries for performance
• Familiarity with Splunk (SPL, searches, dashboards, alerts) is preferred as a secondary skill to complement Grafana-based observability
• Experience with dashboard provisioning and configuration management (e.g., JSON models, Git-based version control, Terraform/Ansible or Grafana API) is a plus
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to work directly with engineering and operations teams to deliver dashboard outcomes

Preferred:

• Grafana/observability experience with Prometheus/Loki/Tempo (or comparable stack) and a portfolio of dashboards demonstrating monitoring and KPI outcomes
• Splunk experience (SPL, searches, dashboards, alerts) and/or Splunk certification (e.g., Power User, Admin) plus scripting knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and integration tasks.

1.    Provide tool design, development and deployment support for the project delivery 
a.    Interact with the internal project or client to understand the project requirement from a tool perspective 
b.    Design the solution keeping in mind the tool requirements, current tools available as well as details on licenses required etc.
c.    Provide budget and timeline estimates for the tool development/ deployment as required
d.    For any new tool development, identify sources for development (internal or 3rd party) and work with the project managers on the development of the tool keeping in mind the production rollout timelines
e.    Conduct commercial discussions with the 3rd party vendors for licenses or tool development 
f.    Conduct appropriate testing to ensure error free deployment of the tool on the project
g.    Ensure deployment of tool on time and within the estimated budget
