Cloud Engineering Lead ( Band – C2)
Role Summary
The Engineering Lead will own end-to-end technical delivery of Telstra’s Cloud Service Catalogue and Self-Service Portal MVP, driving design, build, integration, and release across Azure, ITSM platforms, and cloud orchestration layers. This role provides hands-on technical leadership across portal engineering, infrastructure provisioning, workflow orchestration, and drift/configuration management.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead architecture and engineering delivery for Cloud Service Catalogue and Self-Service Portal MVP on Cloud
• Own design and implementation of service catalog items across compute, storage, network, security, and DevOps
• Drive end-to-end orchestration using Crossplane integrated with Azure and CI/CD pipelines (ADO)
• Lead integration with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow / BMC Remedy) including approval workflows and ticketing
• Ensure GitOps-based drift and configuration management using ArgoCD
• Guide portal development using Backstage and oversee API-led integrations
• Translate requirements into epics, user stories, and technical backlog; manage delivery across design, build, test, and release phases
• Provide technical leadership to UI, ITSM, Crossplane, API, and testing teams; ensure quality and timelines
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience in cloud engineering (App Service, AKS, SQL, Storage, Networking, Security etc)
• Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code and orchestration (Crossplane, Terraform)
• Proven experience integrating cloud platforms with ITSM tools (BMC Remedy)
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD and GitOps (Azure DevOps, ArgoCD)
• Experience building or enabling Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) and self-service portals (Backstage preferred)
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work closely with enterprise architects and stakeholders
