Senior Database Administrator

Position Overview:

Entrust Datacard is seeking a Senior Cloud Services Database Administrator responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems within various Commercial operations space. The main goal of this role is to ensure the availability, integrity, security, compliance and consistent performance of Cloud Systems. The position will perform the duties below as well as others as assigned. This role reports to the Senior Manager, of Database Administration.

Responsibilities:

· Manage SQL Server databases

· Design or provide specification of database/s

· Maintain existing systems, processes and databases

· Perform product evaluations and make product recommendations

· Identify and implement improvements to our systems

· Deploy new database components in highly complex environments

· Provide training to other colleagues on related procedures and activities

· Update, review and coach others on operations documentation

· Understand, review and modify policy and compliance for functional area

· Solve operational service issues which may include interfacing with customers

· Troubleshoot complex issues that cross application, infrastructure and database

· Configure and maintain database servers and processes

· Monitor system's health and performance

· Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security

· Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time

· Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes

· Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement

· Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

· Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours

· Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field; or combination or education and equivalent work experience

· 8-10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role

· 5 years of experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)

· 5 years of experience with backups, restores and recovery models

· 5 years of experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server, including Clustering, Availability Groups, Log Shipping

· 5 years of experience with Windows server, including Active Directory

· Great interpersonal and communication skills

· Good time-management skills

· Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with Open Source/Postgres a plus

· MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP a plus

Areas of responsibility

Triaging and resolution of tickets-Provide resolution to high priority incident (P2) tickets, performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to ensure timely closure.

SLA Monitoring-Ensure SLA compliance for assigned technology areas and ensure proactive escalation management.

Performance tuning and optimization-Analyse system performance data, coordinate findings on system behaviour, and support capacity planning initiatives to enhance overall system efficiency.

Perform system Improvements-Create mitigation measures to evaluate new tools or improvements by collaborating with technical teams.

Handling disaster recovery-Perform security assessments and recovery drills, and implement necessary controls to ensure compliance with established security standards.

Reporting and stakeholder engagement-Participate in weekly and monthly service review meetings, provide updates on performance and issues, and support stakeholder communication to ensure transparency and service alignment.

Team Management-Collaborate with team members to resolve open tickets and service requests.

Knowledge base and continuous learning  Contribute to updating SOPs, knowledge articles and maintaining the knowledge repository for the purpose of future ticket resolution.
