We are actively seeking a seasoned Lead Oracle Analytics & Python Reporting Modernisation Architect to spearhead the transformation of our existing Microsoft Access-based reporting infrastructure. This legacy system interfaces with Oracle databases, utilizes local Access data repositories, and employs queries, macros, and VBA routines to generate essential business reports. The successful candidate will perform a thorough evaluation of the current system and architect a comprehensive replacement solution leveraging Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), BI Publisher, advanced Oracle SQL/PLSQL development, and Python automation to optimize reporting functions effectively.

Essential Skills & Expertise

• Extensive experience (6+ years) in Oracle database development, including proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries and tuning database performance for analytics workloads.
• Proven track record (5+ years) in developing and deploying Oracle Analytics Server (OAS), OBIEE, and BI Publisher reports with comprehensive knowledge of data modelling and report design.
• Strong Python programming skills (5+ years), focused on developing automation scripts for data extraction, transformation, validation, and reporting tasks.
• Significant experience (3+ years) in migrating Microsoft Access applications and VBA-driven reporting tools to modern analytics platforms.
• Background working within financial services or other tightly regulated enterprise sectors, understanding compliance and governance requirements.
• Ability to independently collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including business analysts, DBAs, infrastructure, security, and reporting specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery & Assessment

• Perform exhaustive inventory and analysis of Microsoft Access databases, including all linked tables, queries, forms, reports, macros, and VBA codebases.
• Map and document existing report execution workflows, data refresh processes, scheduling mechanisms, output formats, and identify manual processes and bottlenecks.
• Analyze dependencies between Access application components and Oracle database objects to design a streamlined, optimized target architecture for migration.
• Recommend and architect best-fit technology solutions — leveraging OAS, Python automation, or hybrid portals — tailored to business objectives and technical feasibility.

Oracle Database Engineering

• Develop and optimize Oracle SQL queries, materialized views, PL/SQL packages, and stored procedures that support high-volume, complex reporting workloads.
• Rewrite legacy Access SQL and VBA logic into scalable and maintainable Oracle SQL or Python scripts, ensuring functional parity and performance enhancements.
• Conduct robust performance profiling and tuning using tools such as execution plans, AWR/ASH reports, to guarantee efficient query execution.
• Implement secure and governed database connections, adhering to enterprise security policies and least privilege principles.

OAS & BI Publisher Development

• Design, build, and deploy interactive Oracle Analytics Server dashboards, reports, and drill-down analyses, enabling dynamic data exploration.
• Develop BI Publisher data models and report templates, set up scheduling and output bursting, delivering reports in multiple formats including Excel, PDF, and CSV aligned with business needs.
• Migrate and modernize legacy Access reports into governed OAS and BI Publisher environments with parameterized runtime capabilities for scalability.
• Implement robust role-based access controls in alignment with corporate governance to safeguard data and report access.

Python Automation & Reporting

• Create Python automation pipelines to extract, transform, validate, and format data sourced from Oracle databases into business-ready report formats.
• Utilize advanced Python libraries such as oracledb/cx_Oracle, pandas, SQLAlchemy, openpyxl, XlsxWriter, and NumPy for data processing, ensuring efficient workflows.
• Establish best practices for logging, exception handling, audit trail creation, restart procedures, and data reconciliation to maintain the integrity and reliability of automated processes.
• Integrate Python automation scripts with enterprise scheduling tools like Control-M or Autosys for seamless, reliable report generation.

Testing, Deployment & Support

• Design and execute comprehensive testing strategies including unit tests, system integration, regression testing, and parallel runs to verify new platform outputs against legacy Access reports.
• Develop detailed deployment plans encompassing implementation, rollback procedures, validation checks, and post-deployment support to ensure smooth transition and system stability.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and produce thorough documentation for support teams to facilitate ongoing maintenance and incremental enhancements.
• Provide proactive post-launch monitoring and support, promptly resolving defects and optimizing performance according to evolving business requirements.

Client Engagement & Project Coordination

• Maintain continuous and transparent communication with clients to capture requirements accurately and make clarifications that directly enhance quality outcomes.
• Solicit and incorporate client feedback regularly to ensure alignment with expectations and timely project milestone delivery.
• Actively participate in ongoing professional development programs to stay current with industry best practices, new programming languages, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to evaluate software-hardware interfaces, ensuring specifications meet performance and reliability standards.
• Produce comprehensive technical documentation including flowcharts, system layouts, diagrams, charts, well-commented code, and clear procedural instructions.
• Formally document key project details and reports from client proposal stages through implementation, ensuring traceability and clarity for all stakeholders.
• Maintain high standards of professional etiquette in client interactions, including clear, courteous communications via email, phone, and fault reporting systems.
