Role Summary
The Presales Consultant is a client-facing solution leader who translates Capital Markets business needs into compelling technology-enabled transformation solutions—spanning custom application development, modernization, cloud/data/AI, and platform integration. You’ll partner with Sales, Client Partners, Solution Architects, and Delivery to craft differentiated responses for large, multi-tower pursuits, elevate win probability, and accelerate revenue growth with healthy margins.
You will shape value propositions, create solution blueprints, lead orals, and manage end-to-end presales orchestration—from discovery through contracting—ensuring regulatory-grade, scalable solutions that resonate with traders, operations, risk, and technology stakeholders.
K͏ey responsibilities:
1) Client Discovery & Value Definition
• Lead structured discovery across Front, Middle, and Back Office to uncover pain points in trade lifecycle, market data, risk, compliance, reference data, settlements, collateral, and reporting.
• Translate business challenges (latency, resiliency, conduct risk, TCO, change velocity) into clear problem statements and measurable outcomes.
• Craft value hypotheses, ROI/TCO models, and transformation roadmaps aligned to client strategy.
2) Solutioning & Deal Shaping
• Design application development and modernization solutions (microservices, event-driven, APIs, containerization, DevSecOps, SRE) aligned to cloud-first architectures (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Integrate data platforms/streaming (Kafka, Flink, Spark), AI/ML use cases (surveillance, anomaly detection, client intelligence), and platform integration (Murex, Calypso, Charles River, Aladdin, Avaloq, Temenos Quantum for wealth).
• Shape delivery models (onsite/offshore/nearshore), governance, SLAs/XLAs, and transition/runbooks for ADM/managed services.
• Partner with Pricing, Finance, and Legal to structure commercials, MSAs, SoWs, and risk mitigations.
3) Proposal, Orals & Competitive Differentiation
• Own end-to-end RFI/RFP response: storyline, solution approach, credentials, case studies, delivery plan, and win themes.
• Lead orals and demos/POVs with a strong narrative—linking domain context to technical depth and delivery credibility.
• Build battlecards and position against competition (GSIs, niche SI, product vendors) with IP/accelerators and transformation playbooks.
4) Sales Enablement & Pipeline Acceleration
• Proactively generate demand with industry-aligned solutions, offerings, and accelerators (regulatory reporting kits, trade surveillance patterns, cloud landing zones, reference data frameworks).
• Create reusable presales assets—proposal templates, solution blueprints, estimation models, and case study libraries.
• Collaborate with alliances (cloud/data/product vendors) for co-sell motions and differentiated go-to-market.
5) Governance, Risk & Compliance
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, privacy, resiliency, and operational risk expectations (e.g., trade/transaction reporting, market abuse surveillance, operational resilience, record keeping).
• Embed SDLC governance, DevSecOps, controls mapping, and audit-ready delivery processes in proposals.
• Anticipate model/tech debt, vendor lock-in, non-functional risks; document mitigations and acceptance criteria.
Required Qualifications:
Experience
• 8–14+ years in IT services/consulting for Capital Markets with at least 4+ years in presales/solutioning for application development and/or digital transformation.
• Proven track record shaping and winning $5M–$50M+ deals (ADM, managed services, transformation programs).
• Experience collaborating with global delivery (onsite-offshore), solution architecture, pricing, legal, and PMO
Domain Expertise (Capital Markets)
• Working knowledge across trade lifecycle, market data, reference data, risk & compliance, and post-trade operations.
• Familiarity with products/platforms: Murex, Calypso, FIS, Broadridge, Fidessa/Ion, Charles River, Aladdin, Avaloq/Temenos (for wealth).
• Awareness of regulatory themes (e.g., MiFID II/EMIR/SFTR, SEC/FINRA/CFTC, Basel/SA-CCR, DORA/Operational Resilience).
Technology & Delivery
• Application development and modernization: Java/.NET, microservices, REST/gRPC, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, IaC, API gateways.
• Cloud & data: AWS/Azure/GCP, Kafka/Kinesis, Spark, data lakes/warehouses, Databricks/Snowflake, data governance/lineage.
• DevSecOps, SRE, observability (Grafana/Prometheus/New Relic), performance engineering, and NFRs (latency, throughput, resiliency).
• Estimation (function points/story points), effort modeling, staffing pyramids, transition planning, and managed services constructs.
Skills & Competencies
• Executive communication and storytelling; strong orals leadership.
• Analytical and commercial acumen (pricing levers, margin, risk-reward).
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without authority; high ownership.
• Strong writing skills for RFPs and proposal narratives; attention to detail.
Education & Certifications
- • Bachelor’s in Engineering/Computer Science/Finance (or related).
• MBA preferred (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant certifications a plus: AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, CFA/FRM (nice-to-have), Scrum/SAFe, Security/Privacy (e.g., ISO/CSA).
