Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage F5 Advanced WAF (ASM/AWAF) solutions.
  • Configure and maintain WAF security policies, signatures, bot protection, and application security profiles.
  • Monitor and mitigate web application attacks including:
    • OWASP Top 10 threats
    • SQL Injection
    • Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)
    • CSRF
    • Remote Code Execution
    • DDoS attacks
  • Perform rule tuning to minimize false positives and false negatives.
  • Work closely with application, security, and infrastructure teams for WAF onboarding and policy deployment.
  • Analyze security logs, investigate incidents, and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Support change management, upgrades, patching, and migration activities.
  • Create operational documentation, SOPs, and security reports.
  • Participate in on-call support and incident response activities.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • F5 BIG-IP
    • F5 Advanced WAF (AWAF) / ASM
    • Local Traffic Manager (LTM)
  • Good understanding of:
    • Web application architecture
    • HTTP/HTTPS protocols
    • SSL/TLS certificates
    • Load Balancing concepts
  • Experience with:
    • Security policy creation and tuning
    • Attack signature management
    • Bot Defense
    • IP Intelligence
    • Application onboarding
  • Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and web security best practices.
  • Experience analyzing logs using SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or Sentinel.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, Routing, NAT, and Firewall concepts.
  • Experience in troubleshooting performance and connectivity issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (XC WAF).
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Ansible, Python, or Terraform.
  • Exposure to Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with API Security and Kubernetes environments.
  • Relevant certifications:
    • F5 Certified Administrator (F5-CA)
    • F5 Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
    • Security certifications such as CEH, Security+, or CISSP.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
