We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Datadog Systems Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimising our monitoring and analytics platform, Datadog, across both on-premises and cloud environments. This role involves ensuring system performance, availability, and security while providing actionable insights through comprehensive analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement, configure, and maintain Datadog across on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring comprehensive monitoring of applications, services, and infrastructure. This includes leveraging integrations with SolarWinds for in-depth network performance monitoring and management, as well as Thousand Eyes for end-to-end visibility into the digital experience across the internet, cloud, and SaaS applications.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, monitors, and alerts that provide real-time insights into system performance, availability, and security. Utilise the integrated capabilities of Datadog, create a unified view of IT health, enabling proactive issue resolution and performance optimisation.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to integrate Datadog, SolarWinds, Thousand Eyes etc. into the CI/CD pipeline, facilitating continuous monitoring and feedback. This collaboration ensures that all aspects of the system's performance are under surveillance, from the core network to application performance, providing a holistic view of system health.
• Optimise the use of Datadog to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining high levels of performance and reliability. This involves configuring these tools to complement each other, reducing overlap, and maximising the unique strengths of each platform.
• Stay current with new features and technologies related to Datadog, SolarWinds, and Thousand Eyes, evaluating and implementing them as appropriate to meet business needs. This includes participating in webinars, workshops, and other learning opportunities to understand how integrations can be enhanced and leveraged for improved monitoring and analytics.

• Additional Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in integrating other monitoring tools with Datadog.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems engineering or operations, with a strong focus on monitoring and analytics platforms.
• Proven experience with Datadog, including implementation, configuration, and optimisation in hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
• Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their integration with Datadog.
• Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and integration purposes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and departments.
• Relevant certifications in Datadog, cloud computing, or systems engineering are a plus.
• Working Conditions:
• This position may require occasional evening and weekend work to perform system upgrades, maintenance, or emergency troubleshooting.
• Remote work options are available, with expectations for regular communication and participation in virtual meetings.
