Job Description – Guardicore (Akamai) Micro-segmentation Engineer

Role Summary

The Guardicore (Akamai) Micro-segmentation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating Micro-segmentation and Zero Trust security controls using Guardicore Centra (Akamai). The role focuses on workload protection, east west traffic security, breach containment, and regulatory compliance across on premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

 

Design and implement micro segmentation policies using Guardicore Centra

 

Protect workloads across:

  • Data centers
  • Virtualized environments
  • Cloud and hybrid infrastructures
  • Enforce Zero Trust principles by controlling east west traffic

 

Policy Design & Enforcement:

  • Create, test, and deploy:
  • Segmentation policies
  • Application aware access rules
  • Least privilege enforcement models
  • Translate application flows into enforceable security policies
  • Implement phased enforcement strategies (visibility → alert → block)

 

Application Dependency Mapping:

  • Analyze and map application dependencies and traffic flows
  • Work closely with application, infra, and network teams to ensure accuracy
  • Reduce blast radius during breaches through granular policy enforcement

 

Operations, Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide L2/L3 support for Guardicore platforms
  • Monitor policy enforcement and traffic visibility dashboards
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and policy related issues
  • Perform upgrades, agent management, and platform health checks

 

Security & Compliance

  • Align microsegmentation controls with:
  • Zero Trust architecture
  • Regulatory and audit requirements (BFSI / enterprise security)
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance reporting
  • Maintain governance documentation and change records

 

Cloud & Infrastructure Security:

Secure workloads in:

  • Azure / AWS / GCP (as applicable)
  • Hybrid cloud environments
  • Integrate Guardicore with existing security tooling (SIEM, SOC)
  • Governance & Change Management
  • Follow enterprise change, release, and incident management processes
  • Maintain policy documentation, design artifacts, and approvals
  • Ensure minimal business disruption during policy rollout
