Role Overview

As a Microsoft Fabric Developer / Data Engineer at Wipro Technologies, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing scalable, efficient, and robust data engineering solutions utilizing the latest Microsoft Fabric platform technologies. You will be entrusted with independently building end-to-end data pipelines, integrating diverse API data sources, and crafting sophisticated SQL-based transformations to support the Silver and Gold data warehouse layers. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive ETL/ELT data pipelines within the Microsoft Fabric environment, ensuring seamless data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
• Implement Python scripts and notebooks to extract, cleanse, validate, and transform data originating from diverse sources such as RESTful APIs, databases, and unstructured files.
• Architect and enforce data processing patterns adhering to medallion architecture principles, effectively managing Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers to optimize data quality and accessibility.
• Author and optimize advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and views that underpin Silver and Gold warehouse data transformations and support analytical workloads.
• Develop curated, business-friendly Gold layer datasets that cater to reporting, dashboarding, KPI calculation, and broader analytics use cases.
• Create and administer semantic models leveraging Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, incorporating complex relationships, calculated measures, hierarchies, and metadata to bolster user self-service analytics capabilities.
• Orchestrate and monitor data workflows through Fabric Pipelines with meticulous attention to scheduling, dependency management, error handling, and operational reliability.
• Implement data quality frameworks encompassing validation rules, logging mechanisms, exception handling, and reconciliation processes to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including business analysts, data architects, and reporting specialists to align data solutions with business needs and strategic priorities.
• Maintain thorough documentation covering data flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, pipeline designs, and semantic model metadata to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric components including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, Notebooks, and Semantic Models to deliver robust data solutions.
• Proficiency in Python programming tailored to ETL tasks, API integrations, complex data transformations, and automation workflows.
• Proven experience in consuming and processing data from RESTful APIs with a thorough understanding of authentication protocols, pagination methods, error handling tactics, and incremental data loading.
• Advanced skills in SQL development, proficient with complex joins, common table expressions (CTEs), window functions, aggregations, and query performance optimization.
• Experience in architecting and populating Silver and Gold data layers structured for advanced analytics and reporting requirements.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling techniques including star schemas, fact and dimension tables, and structured reporting constructs.
• Expertise in designing semantic models that empower business users through Power BI or Microsoft Fabric self-service analytic tools.
• Strong capabilities in pipeline orchestration, scheduling, dependency resolution, monitoring systems, and proactive failure management.
• Ability to efficiently work with both structured and semi-structured data formats sourced from multiple heterogeneous systems.
• Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting skills combined with effective communication to engage stakeholders and team members.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with Delta Lake technology, OneLake architecture, and PySpark/Spark for big data processing and analytics.
• Competency in Power BI report development and visualization techniques to complement data engineering efforts.
• Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, Git version control, and deployment pipeline management for Microsoft Fabric artifacts.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks encompassing security, access management, workspace role configurations, and data lineage tracking.
• Background in Agile or Scrum methodology to effectively contribute within iterative and collaborative project environments.
