SAS Viya & Python Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop backend services with robust, maintainable, and testable Python code, applying object-oriented programming principles to realize scalable software components.
• Leverage the capabilities of the SAS Viya platform to implement advanced data analytic solutions, including the integration of sophisticated machine learning models for actionable insights.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of production-grade Django applications, supported by hands-on experience with real-world, complex projects beyond experimental phases.
• Design and manage PostgreSQL database schemas, optimize query performance, and ensure reliable persistence layers that underpin backend functionalities.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including data scientists, cloud engineers, and product stakeholders to implement Azure-based cloud deployments that ensure scalability, resiliency, and smooth operations.
• Embed software engineering best practices through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, clean coding standards, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Keep current with emerging trends and innovations in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and generative AI frameworks such as LangChain, identifying opportunities to enhance solution capabilities and add strategic value.

Experience and Expertise Required

• Five to eight years of professional experience developing backend systems, with a strong focus on Python programming and integration with SAS Viya platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented design and development practices, enabling the creation of modular, reusable, and efficient software components.
• Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL including schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization techniques.
• Proven success in delivering Django-based applications deployed in production environments, showcasing the ability to move beyond mere prototyping to live, scalable solutions.
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles and hands-on experience embedding ML models within real-world applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with a customer-centric attitude, focused on delivering quality and exceeding expectations through collaborative teamwork.
