Job Description

  • Own reliability strategy for core platforms across Azure, AVS and Kubernetes, defining service boundaries, operational readiness criteria, and engineering standards aligned to business‑critical insurance workloads.
  • Establish and govern SRE fundamentals: define SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, and resilience KPIs; lead service reviews to drive measurable improvements in availability, latency, and MTTR.
  • Engineer observability at scale (metrics, logs, traces) with actionable alerting, noise reduction, and event correlation—ensuring high-fidelity detection and rapid diagnosis for customer‑impacting issues.
  • Drive ITIL/ITSM integration via ServiceNow: automate incident/problem/change workflows, implement robust change risk controls, and ensure audit‑ready traceability for production actions and approvals.
  • Lead automation and self‑healing using Python/PowerShell (and IaC patterns where applicable), converting repeat incidents into preventative fixes, standard runbooks, and automated remediation pipelines.
  • Run major incident and reliability governance: coordinate P1/P2 response, execute technical triage, own RCA quality, and deliver permanent corrective actions with clear risk acceptance and timelines.
  • Implement secure-by-design platform practices: least privilege, secrets management, policy enforcement, vulnerability remediation, and resilience controls aligned to UK insurance compliance and operational resilience expectations.
  • Introduce agentic AI responsibly (human‑in‑the‑loop): AI‑assisted triage/summarisation, recommendation engines for remediation, and controlled execution of approved runbooks with guardrails and evidence capture.

Mentor and lead cross-functional delivery with Cloud, EUC (Intune/W365 where in scope), Network/Security and Service Ops teams—driving platform roadmaps, cost/reliability optimisation, and continuous improvement.
