Job Description

Role: Datacenter Engineer-Wintel Stack

Location: Guildford, UK

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage deployment, operations, and lifecycle activities of global data centre infrastructure across multiple locations.
  • Perform racking, stacking, installation, and commissioning of servers, storage systems, and associated data centre hardware.
  • Support data centre infrastructure expansion, production onboarding, and hardware readiness activities.
  • Execute decommissioning and retirement of legacy infrastructure, including servers and storage devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues involving power supplies, batteries, controllers, cabling, and connectivity components.
  • Coordinate inter-site hardware movement, logistics activities, and vendor communications for infrastructure deployments.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory, lifecycle tracking, rack elevation details, and infrastructure documentation using DCIM tools such as SunBird, Device42.
  • Utilize ITSM and project management tools including ServiceNow and Jira for incident management, request tracking, change management, and operational coordination.
  • Collaborate with remote data centre teams and cross-functional engineering groups to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve operational incidents.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to SLA and MSA commitments across Data centre operations and infrastructure services.
  • Manage facility requirements including space allocation, power, cooling, structured cabling, under-floor cabling, fibre, and dark fibre connectivity.
  • Provide hardware asset details, serial numbers, and asset tagging information to procurement and billing teams for PO processing.
  • Execute physical cabling activities, uplink connectivity validation, and power infrastructure setup for newly deployed environments.
  • Ensure compliance with data centre operational standards, safety guidelines, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Support infrastructure health checks, preventive maintenance activities, and incident resolution processes.
  • Deliver regular operational updates, technical status reports, and monthly review documentation to stakeholders and management teams.
