Role Summary
The Release Manager is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end release lifecycle for software applications. This includes scheduling releases, coordinating cross‑functional teams, enforcing release governance, and ensuring smooth deployments across all environments. The role acts as the central point of control for release planning, risk management, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule releases across multiple applications and environments, maintaining a master release calendar.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (development, QA, operations, product) to ensure release readiness and alignment.
- Lead Go/No‑Go meetings and manage deployment checklists, approvals, and readiness criteria.
- Implement and govern release processes for code movement through dev, test, staging, and production.
- Manage risks and issues related to release scope, quality, and timelines; develop rollback plans.
- Oversee CI/CD pipeline activities and collaborate with release engineers on branching, merging, and versioning.
- Maintain release documentation, including runbooks, procedures, dependencies, and communication lists.
- Drive continuous improvement in release automation, tooling, and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Proficiency in version control, branching strategies, and release governance.
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or Agile/Scrum Master are highly beneficial.

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $148,500 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
