We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Executive Finance professional to support the Financial Controllership function for our Sri Lankan operations. This role will be responsible for assisting with statutory compliance, tax-related activities, financial reconciliations, audit coordination, and regulatory reporting while working closely with the Group Controllership team based in India.

The ideal candidate will have strong finance and compliance knowledge, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with government authorities, external consultants, auditors, and internal teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Assist with tasks and operations following defined procedures and guidelines. 
  2. Perform tasks given with clear instructions ensuring accuracy  
  3. Support the team by preparing documentation, reports, or presentations, ensuring they meet quality standards.  
  4. Share weekly updates & publish reports as required by the team  
  5. Resolve issues within own area of work or escalate to their manager  
  6. Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed on time. 
  7. Participate in training opportunities to build understanding of processes, tools, and methodologies used by the team. 
  8. Utilize basic technical or professional skills to perform team projects or tasks.

Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Coordinate with the Group Tax team on VAT return filings, VAT refund claims, Income Tax Return submissions, and Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) filings.
  • Prepare and submit Stamp Duty Returns within statutory deadlines.
  • Support withholding tax clearance processes with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).
  • Coordinate gratuity tax payments and related documentation.
  • Monitor compliance deadlines and ensure timely submission of all statutory filings.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations and investigate outstanding reconciling items.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Support financial reporting requirements and maintain accurate supporting schedules.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and finance policies.

 

Government & Regulatory Liaison

  • Coordinate with the Board of Investment (BOI) regarding reporting obligations, approvals, and compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) on tax-related matters and clarifications.
  • Assist in meetings with regulatory authorities and ensure timely follow-up on action items.

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Support external audit activities by coordinating audit requests and preparing required documentation.
  • Liaise with auditors during annual statutory audits and other compliance reviews.
  • Maintain proper documentation to support audit and regulatory requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Payroll team and external payroll consultants to ensure payroll-related statutory compliance.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Administration teams on employee-related financial and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support finance, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline/ Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CMA or partly qualified)
  • 2-3 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Audit, or Compliance functions.
  • Working knowledge of Sri Lankan tax regulations including VAT, Income Tax, SSCL, Withholding Tax, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory authorities, auditors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and organizational skills.
