Job Description

Wipro Technologies is seeking a skilled and dedicated Annotation Quality & Operations Lead to join our BPS team.
This pivotal role focuses on driving excellence in annotation quality, policy governance, and the operational management of autonomous systems datasets. The successful candidate will leverage deep expertise in LiDAR technology, sensor fusion, object tracking, and large-scale annotation processes to ensure our datasets meet the highest standards essential for advancing AI perception models.

͏Key Responsibilities


Annotation Policy & Standards Management

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance annotation guidelines for:
    • 3D LiDAR object labeling
    • Multi-sensor data workflows
    • Camera-LiDAR alignment
    • Radar-supported annotations
    • Semantic segmentation and object tracking
    • Temporal consistency and trajectory labeling
  • Define annotation taxonomies, ontologies, and edge-case handling guidelines.
  • Create SOPs, reviewer guides, decision frameworks, and annotation playbooks.
  • Convert engineering and model requirements into clear annotation specifications.
  • Ensure consistency across internal and external annotation teams.

Quality Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish quality metrics, acceptance criteria, and operational KPIs.
  • Design and implement scalable quality assurance frameworks.
  • Conduct regular audits to identify quality gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to assess annotation impact on model performance.
  • Drive initiatives that improve annotation accuracy, consistency, and productivity.
  • Monitor reviewer calibration and quality alignment across teams.

Operations & Program Management

  • Partner with client teams, vendors, and operational stakeholders to execute annotation programs.
  • Support workforce onboarding, certification, and capability-building initiatives.
  • Analyse productivity trends, annotation challenges, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend tooling enhancements and workflow optimisations.
  • Support large-scale dataset launches and quality readiness assessments.
  • Prepare and present operational reports and performance insights to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • Perception Engineers
    • Data Scientists
    • Simulation Teams
    • Program Managers
    • Tooling & Infrastructure Teams
    • External Vendor Partners
  • Participate in dataset reviews, model evaluation discussions, and annotation strategy planning.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during new feature development and system evaluation activities.

 

͏Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Data Science, GIS, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Autonomous vehicle data annotation
    • LiDAR labeling operations
    • Quality assurance programs
    • Annotation policy development
  • Strong understanding of:
    • 3D point cloud data
    • Sensor fusion systems
    • Object tracking and trajectory labeling
    • Autonomous system perception workflows
  • Experience working with annotation platforms supporting:
    • LiDAR
    • Multi-camera systems
    • Radar
    • HD maps

 

Skills required

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong decision-making and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, operating systems, internet tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Experience managing annotation quality programs at scale.
  • Strong documentation and process governance skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working on AI/ML data operations programs.
  • Knowledge of dataset quality measurement methodologies.
  • Experience driving operational excellence and process optimisation initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
