Job Description
The AIX Migration Consultant is responsible for managing and executing complex AIX migrations across data centres, with a strong emphasis on automation and scripting. This role combines expert-level technical services, including planning, discovery, automation, documentation, detailed run book preparation, administration, virtualization (LPAR/DPAR), HACMP/POWER HA, NIM, VIO, IBM Power HW, and comprehensive migration expertise and transitioning environments smoothly to business-as-usual (BAU) support.
Responsibilities -
Perform detailed discovery and assessments of AIX environments and prepare MGL, system discovery, mapping dependencies, configurations.
Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Develop robust migration plans to minimize disruption to business services.
Execute end-to-end migrations using proven methodologies, involving LPAR creation, VIOS setup, and PowerHA configurations.
Utilize NIM (Network Installation Manager) for system provisioning and migration, leveraging mksysb images for backup and recovery.
Implement storage configuration, network integration, and comprehensive system upgrades during migration.
Develop and deploy automation scripts using Shell, Ansible, Python, and Perl to facilitate efficient and repeatable migrations.
Create automation frameworks for routine tasks, system provisioning, and migrations.
Generate detailed technical documentation including High-Level Design (HLD), Low-Level Design (LLD), configuration manuals, SOPs, and migration workflows.
Prepare L3 operational run books detailing migration procedures, troubleshooting guidelines, and rollback strategies.
Deliver consistent and clear communication with stakeholders, management, and technical teams.
Conduct regular status meetings and manage escalations effectively.
Facilitate comprehensive knowledge transfer to operational teams.
Ensure smooth handover of environments post-migration with ongoing troubleshooting and support.
Skills -
Extensive expertise in IBM AIX administration (LPAR, DLPAR, VIOS, NIM, mksysb, PowerHA, HMC).
Advanced proficiency in scripting and automation (Shell, Ansible, Python, Perl).
Comprehensive knowledge of migration methodologies, virtualization, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Exceptional documentation, analytical, and interpersonal skills.Experience:
Minimum 10+ years of enterprise-level experience in AIX migrations, automation, and system administration.

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $80,000 to $158,000 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
