Role Purpose

To advise all Wipro entities on the statutory compliance as per Companies Act and lead the ethical compliance. The role is responsible to assure the Wipro board that activities of business units are compliant with statutory and ethical regulations locally and globally in line with Wipro guidelines.

Do

1. Legal function strategy development and deployment

a. Continuously scan the global refutations on compliance to identify the emerging risks, areas of compliance and areas requiring modification of existing templates / guidelines of Wipro.

b. Provide inputs in identifying strategic legal projects, initiatives to be undertaken during the year.

c. Identify the key improvements to be implemented in the ethical compliance and global compliances for all Wipro entities

d. Communicate the Legal function strategy to the team and realign the resources required for the effective implementation of Legal strategy

 

2. Drive Adherence to Global Statutory Compliances

a. Oversee global compliance as per companies act, global and local compliance requirements for all Wipro entities.

b. Review the emerging global compliances, assess its impact on Wipro entities and prepare an action plan for Wipro to be compliant

c. Advise the BU legal heads on statutory compliance and review the policies to be updated / renewed.

d. Report to the Wipro board on any non-compliance to the statutory regulations and the actions take

3. Drive ethical compliance for all Wipro entities

a. Assure Wipro board that ethical compliance requirements are being met in line with global and local requirements of the geography

b. Create a mechanism for continuous review and updation of the ethical compliance training and awareness documents

c. Ensure updated training documents are made available online for certification and adherence by the employees.

d. Educate the BU legal heads on the revisions in the ethical training materials for further dissemination of information.

e. Report to the Wipro board on any ethical non-compliance observed and the action taken on the non-compliance.

 

4. Act as a Subject Matter Expert on Data Privacy and Cyber Security

a. Guide and oversee the development of legal policies pertaining to data privacy and cyber security

b. Ensure policies are reviewed and renewed periodically and are always also adhered

c. Partner with IRM team to monitor understand the emerging nature of cyber security and data privacy threats and prepare a legal response for mitigating such risks.

d. Oversee periodic audits from data privacy and cyber security perspective of the processes (internal as well external)

5. Advising COO Office:

a. Act as a legal business partner to the COO’s office

b. Advising on strategic matters form legal point of view

c. Advising on guidelines and policies to ensure smoot business operations

 

6. Team Management

a. Resourcing

  • Forecast talent requirements as per the current and future business needs
  • Hire adequate and right resources for the team

b. Talent Management

  • Ensure adequate on boarding and training for the team members to enhance capability & effectiveness
  • Build an internal talent pool and ensure their career progression within the organization
  • Manage team attrition
  • Drive diversity in leadership positions

c. Performance Management

  • Set goals for the team, conduct timely performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to own direct reports
  • Ensure that the Performance Nxt is followed for the entire team

d. Employee Satisfaction and Engagement

  • Lead and drive engagement initiatives for the team
  • Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement within the team
