Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 Senior Engineer (L3) to support and manage enterprise collaboration, messaging, and security platforms. This role will act as the highest level of technical escalation, handling complex issues, security incidents, and compliance requirements across Microsoft 365 and email security systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 services, email security, compliance, and threat management, and will work closely with IT, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure platform stability and data protection.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 Operations & Support
- Provide Level 3 (L3) support for Microsoft 365 services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to:
- Exchange Online (email, mail flow, shared mailboxes)
- SharePoint Online and OneDrive (access, permissions, data retention)
- Microsoft Teams (chat, meetings, collaboration)
- Act as an escalation point for critical incidents and service disruptions.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and recommend long‑term fixes.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Support Microsoft Purview (Compliance) features including:
- Retention policies and labels
- Audit and eDiscovery
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Support governance processes related to data lifecycle and retention.
Email Security & Threat Management
- Manage and support Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to:
- Threat alerts
- Phishing and malware incidents
- Account compromise attempts
- Administer and support Proofpoint Email Security, including phishing response and policy tuning.
- Assist with protection of high‑risk / VIP users.
Email Infrastructure & DNS
- Manage and troubleshoot:
- SMTP relay configurations
- Email routing and connectors
- Support and maintain email authentication standards:
- SPF
- DKIM
- DMARC
- Analyze email headers and delivery issues.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Security, Compliance, and Infrastructure teams.
- Prepare:
- Incident reports
- RCA documentation
- Operational and compliance reports
- Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to L1/L2 support teams.

Do
- Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects in own tower (platform/dbase/ middleware/ backup)
- Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/ middleware/ database/ back up etc. according to various system requirements to ensure a highly scalable and extensible solution
- Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the current and future requirements
- Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlying technologies to ensure smooth functioning of the installed databases and applications/ platforms, as applicable
- Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and create and implement backup and recovery plans
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the tower
- Manage day-to-day operations by troubleshooting any issues, conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and developing fixes to avoid similar issues.
- Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions for own tower
- Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways to improve efficiency, fine tune performance and reduce performance challenges
- Develop shift roster for the team to ensure no disruption in the tower
- Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance etc.
- Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team, internal stakeholders on database activities w.r.t. progress, updates, status, and next steps
- Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP) through automation and other initiatives for higher efficiency and effectiveness

- Set goals for direct reportees, conduct timely performance reviews and appraisals, and give constructive feedback to direct reports.
- Ensure that organizational programs like Performance Nxt are well understood and that the team is taking the opportunities presented by such programs to their and their levels below

- Lead and drive engagement initiatives for the team
- Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement within the team
- Proactively challenge the team with larger and enriching projects/ initiatives for the organization or team
