We are currently seeking an experienced Implementation Consultant – Data Migration to support the delivery of complex technology implementation and data transformation projects.

In this role, you will lead and support the migration of data from legacy environments into modern enterprise platforms. You will work closely with customers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams to understand requirements, define migration specifications, develop mapping and transformation logic, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of migrated data.

The successful candidate will combine strong SQL and data migration expertise with excellent analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills. Experience within pensions, insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.

This opportunity is a full-time, work-from-home opportunity based in UK, initially offered for a period of 12 months with the possibility of extension.

 

Long Description

What you'll do

  • Design, build and optimise SQL-based migration and reporting solutions
  • Develop migration strategies, plans, cutover approaches and rollback controls
  • Profile source data and define mapping, transformation, cleansing, reconciliation and validation rules
  • Run ETL operations ensuring accuracy, completeness and minimal service disruption
  • Automate migrations using T-SQL and related tooling
  • Tune performance through indexing, partitioning and query optimisation
  • Identify migration risks and drive mitigation and remediation
  • Support configuration of workflows, interfaces, payroll data and reports
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, version control and change management
  • Document, train and hand over knowledge to clients and internal teams

  • Enterprise-scale data migration delivery
  • ETL design and execution
  • Data mapping, profiling, cleansing, transformation, reconciliation and validation
  • Data quality management
  • Advanced SQL and T-SQL (CTEs, window functions, stored procedures)
  • Indexing, partitioning and query optimisation
  • Microsoft SQL Server and SSMS
  • Database design, data modelling and normalisation
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Migration planning, cutover and rollback approaches
  • Requirements gathering and specification writing
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Client-facing communication and documentation

 

Great to have

  • Large-scale migrations in pensions, insurance, banking or financial services
  • UK pensions, Defined Benefit / Defined Contribution and pension calculations
  • Azure SQL Managed Instance and on-premises SQL Server environments
  • SQL Server administration and environment maintenance
  • Data governance, metadata management and data quality frameworks
  • XML, HTML, XSLT or content management systems
  • Excel macros or other scripting and programming languages
  • Agile delivery methodologies
  • Relevant professional or industry qualifications
