The role

Knowledge Graph, MCP, LLM Integration & Security Approval.

We need a hands-on Principal Engineer who can help us build and deploy an AI-enabled solution around a large custom full-stack ABAP application.

We already have a local solution. It combines a knowledge graph built from SAP tables, tickets, documented solutions and our code base with a small language model that retrieves the right context before passing it to an LLM. This reduces hallucinations and makes answers more useful.

Your job is to show us how to implement this properly on SAP BTP, build the critical parts with our team and help us get the solution through architecture and security approval.

What you will do

• Review the current local implementation and turn it into a practical SAP BTP solution.
• Build working examples and reference implementations—not only architecture slides.
• Implement the MCP server and connect it securely to the knowledge graph, ABAP landscape and approved LLM services.
• Decide pragmatically when to use Kyma, Cloud Foundry, XSUAA and other existing SAP services.
• Keep the design simple and minimise custom development wherever SAP capabilities can be reused.
• Work directly with our ABAP, platform, data and security teams until the solution works in our environment.

Security and Approval:

• Create a security concept that our security and architecture teams can review and approve.
• Implement authentication, authorisation and role mapping with XSUAA and the relevant SAP identity services.
• Ensure users can retrieve only the code, tickets and business data they are authorised to access.
• Address prompt injection, data leakage, excessive tool permissions, secrets, logging, auditability and network security.
• Prepare the required diagrams, data flows, threat model, controls and test evidence.
• Join review sessions, answer technical questions and resolve findings until approval is achieved.

Who are we looking for

What You Bring:

• Strong hands-on ABAP experience in large custom SAP environments.
• Practical SAP BTP delivery experience, including Kyma and/or Cloud Foundry and XSUAA.
• Experience building secure integrations, APIs or MCP-style tool interfaces.
• Working knowledge of knowledge graphs, retrieval, RAG and LLM context handling.
• Ability to code, configure, troubleshoot and demonstrate the solution yourself.
• Experience taking an enterprise solution through architecture and security review.
• Clear communication with engineers, SAP architects and security stakeholders.

Proven Track Record:

Please be ready to show concrete examples of solutions you personally helped implement, including:

• A complex ABAP or SAP integration delivered into production.
• A working deployment on SAP BTP or a comparable enterprise platform.
• A security concept that passed formal review.
• Hands-on contributions such as code, configuration, prototypes, troubleshooting or technical documentation.

Expected First Outcomes:

• A clear assessment of the existing local solution and the shortest path to BTP.
• A working end-to-end pilot in our SAP environment.
• A practical security concept with implemented controls and test evidence.
• A deployment blueprint and implementation guide our teams can continue using.
• A realistic roadmap from pilot to production.

This Role Is Not

This is not a pure strategy, slideware or project-management role. We need someone who can make sound architecture decisions and then work with the team to implement, test, secure and deploy them.
