Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled data specialist with strong experience in master and reference data management to support data governance/provenance work. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple stakeholders and will possess excellent communication skills to liaise across business and technical teams
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the definition, implementation, and enforcement of Master and Reference Data governance processes, policies and standards to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective stewardship of Master & Reference Data across our client
- elicit business requirements and translate them into Master & Reference data entities, attributes, hierarchies and relationships, document business definitions, lineage, and metadata, and manage Master & Reference Data register/catalogue.
- maintain Master & Reference data management procedures/services for create/update/retire workflows and approvals, operate daily controls (e.g., work queues, exception handling), and ensure audit trails are complete and accessible (who/what/when/why).
- collaborate with data quality team and lead data stewards to identify data quality issues, configure and test data quality rules, match/merge logic, and survivorship, and run remediation tasks.
- work with business stakeholders to ensure Master & Reference Data Management requirements/use cases have been identified and Master & Reference data related concepts and communication are delivered to relevant teams across business.
- manage and assess risk associated with Master & Reference Data Management, implementing mitigation actions to ensure robust data governance.
- Facilitate engagement sessions and clearly communicate Master & Reference data-related concepts and requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- provide training and guidance to NESO staff regarding Master & Reference data.
Required Experience & Skills
- Demonstrated experience working in Master Data Management initiative.
- Good understanding of data governance frameworks, ownership models, stewardship, and approval processes.
- Good understanding of core Master Data Management concepts (attributes, hierarchies, matching, survivorship, golden records).
- Able to capture business requirements and translate them into clear specifications for developers and architects.
- experience in defining Master Data Management standards, policy and standards, and implement these across the organisation.
- Exposure to Master Data Management processes such as matching, merging, survivorship, or reference data alignment.
- Ability to assess the impact of changes to master data codes, mappings, and standards.
- Ability to map source-to-target data flows and document data transformations.
- Experience building data dictionaries, mappings, and lineage documentation.
- Ability to manage operational workflows such as create/update requests, approvals, remediation tasks, and exception handling.
- Experience working with data quality team, data stewards or SMEs to validate definitions, business rules, or data issues.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop solutions.
- Expertise in MDM tools and platforms, such as Informatica, SAP MDG, IBM InfoSphere, or similar technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across organisations.
