Job Description

We are seeking for a VMware HCX & SDN Engineer in Mexico City or Guadalajara, Jalisco

You will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting enterprise workload mobility solutions using VMware HCX, NSX, and related software‑defined networking technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and operate VMware HCX Service Mesh environments, including site pairing, compute profiles, and network profiles
     
  • Implement Layer‑2 network extension to allow workloads to retain IP/MAC addresses during migration
     
  • Configure and maintain HCX Network Extension services, including gateway IPs, routing, and HA configurations
     
  • Plan and execute VM migrations using HCX methods such as vMotion, Bulk Migration, RAV, and OSAM, selecting the best option based on downtime tolerance, scale, and network reliability
     
  • Perform pre‑migration health checks, including HCX Diagnostics and Transport Analytics to validate bandwidth, latency, and packet loss thresholds
     
  • Manage SDN environments using VMware NSX, including overlays, VLANs, Tier‑1 gateways, routing, and security policies.
  • Ensure network underlay readiness, including bandwidth, MTU, and packet‑loss requirements for live migrations
  • Support hybrid cloud connectivity between on‑premises vSphere and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure VMware Solution).
  • Develop runbooks, operational procedures, and documentation for HCX and SDN operations.
  • Provide incident response, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis for HCX and SDN‑related issues.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong experience with VMware HCX deployment, configuration, and migration operations.
  • Solid understanding of VMware vSphere, vCenter, and workload mobility concepts.
  • Hands‑on experience with SDN technologies, especially VMware NSX (VDS, overlays, VLANs, routing).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals: routing, firewalls, MTU, bandwidth, packet loss, and WAN optimization.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud networking and Azure VMware Solution HCX integrations .
  • Ability to manage complex enterprise environments and collaborate across infrastructure teams.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware certifications (e.g., VCP‑DCV, VCP‑NV, HCX Specialist).
  • Experience with VCF Operations HCX 9.1, including Mobility Groups and advanced migration settings
     
  • Familiarity with WAN optimization, Transport Analytics, and network extension HA.
  • Background in datacenter modernization or large‑scale migration programs.
