Job Description – Datadog Administrator
Role Summary
The Datadog Administrator is responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of Datadog monitoring solutions across infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments. This role ensures high availability, performance monitoring, alerting, and observability to support business‑critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Datadog monitoring for servers, applications, containers, and cloud platforms.
- Configure dashboards, monitors, alerts, and SLOs based on operational and business requirements.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity; proactively identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Integrate Datadog with cloud platforms, container platforms (Kubernetes), and third‑party tools.
- Support incident management by providing monitoring insights, root cause analysis, and performance data.
- Manage Datadog agents, integrations, and upgrades across environments.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, and Application teams to improve observability and reliability.
- Document monitoring standards, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Support on‑call or 24x7 operations when required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands‑on experience administering Datadog (Infrastructure, APM, Logs, Metrics).
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and incident management.
- Working knowledge of:
- Linux / Unix and/or Windows Server
- Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP – at least one)
- Containers / Kubernetes (basic to intermediate)
- Experience with performance troubleshooting and system monitoring.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management concepts.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts / 24x7 support models if required.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AIOps concepts and advanced Datadog features.
- Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps tools.
- Datadog or cloud certifications.
- Experience in enterprise or large‑scale environments.

1. Provide tool design, development and deployment support for the project delivery
a. Interact with the internal project or client to understand the project requirement from a tool perspective
b. Design the solution keeping in mind the tool requirements, current tools available as well as details on licenses required etc.
c. Provide budget and timeline estimates for the tool development/ deployment as required
d. For any new tool development, identify sources for development (internal or 3rd party) and work with the project managers on the development of the tool keeping in mind the production rollout timelines
e. Conduct commercial discussions with the 3rd party vendors for licenses or tool development
f. Conduct appropriate testing to ensure error free deployment of the tool on the project
g. Ensure deployment of tool on time and within the estimated budget
