Role Summary

The Data Center Technician (L2) provides advanced technical and operational support for data center infrastructure. The role leads complex IMAC activities, troubleshooting, DCIM accuracy, space and capacity support, vendor coordination, and site governance, while mentoring L1 technicians and ensuring compliance with design standards.


Key Responsibilities

Network & Cabling Infrastructure

  • Lead complex cabling and IMAC activities across copper, fiber, and twin‑ax.
  • Ensure end‑to‑end A/B redundancy compliance for network and power connectivity.
  • Validate backbone and device‑level cabling, labeling, and testing.
  • Review and maintain as‑built documentation, cross‑connects, and uplink records.

IMAC, Lifecycle & Advanced Hardware Support

  • Lead installation, relocation, and decommissioning of IT equipment.
  • Own hardware lifecycle activities, including:
    • Drive destruction coordination and witnessing
    • Hardware harvesting and spare inventory control
    • Decommission documentation and DCIM updates
  • Perform advanced break‑fix and upgrades (PCIe cards, VICs, DIMMs, PSUs).
  • Assist IT teams with troubleshooting (crash cart, CIMC, console access, reboots).

DCIM, Space & Capacity Support

  • Ensure DCIM (StruxureWare) accuracy after every IMAC.
  • Maintain device inventory, floor plans, cabinet layouts, and documentation.
  • Support space planning by assessing rack space, growth, power, cooling, and network availability.
  • Assist in capacity planning meetings and reporting.

Power & Cooling

  • Support power planning at rack, PDU, RPP, and UPS levels.
  • Assist with line power installations and vendor coordination.
  • Monitor loads, identify risks, and escalate proactively.
  • Monitor UPS units and validate network connections to PDUs/ATS where applicable.

Vendor, Facilities & Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, contractors, and facilities teams.
  • Support tile cuts, brush guards, power adds, and site changes.
  • Request and track RFCs, INCs, access tickets, and delivery tickets.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving, and global logistics coordination.

Site Operations & Governance

  • Represent operations in CAB meetings, resiliency reviews, audits, and site walkthroughs.
  • Support business continuity and testing activities.
  • Act as escalation point for L1 technicians.
  • Provide 24×7 on‑call support per SLA.

Skills & Experience

  • 5–7+ years of experience in enterprise data center operations
  • Strong expertise in IMAC, cabling, power, cooling, and DCIM
  • Experience coordinating vendors and facilities teams
  • Ability to mentor junior technicians and manage complex tasks independently
Mandatory Skills: Datacenter - Wintel Stack .

 

Experience: 3-5 Years .

 

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $45,000 to $121,000 .

 

Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
