Service Level Owner - Java
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior Java engineering professional who will act as the Service Level Owner (SLO) for critical enterprise platforms. This role combines hands‑on Java development, DevOps/SRE practices, and end‑to‑end ownership of system reliability, performance, and availability. The Java Technical SLO is accountable for ensuring platforms consistently meet defined SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs while enabling delivery velocity and engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Java Engineering (≈40%)
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java‑based applications and services.
- Enhance RESTful APIs and backend processing pipelines.
- Write high‑quality, maintainable, and performant code aligned with engineering best practices.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce coding standards.
- Collaborate closely with QE, product, and architecture teams to ensure quality and scalability.
DevOps / Platform Engineering (≈30%)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Implement infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform, Helm, or similar frameworks.
- Support containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes (AKS/EKS).
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, or AppDynamics.
- Partner with infrastructure and cloud teams to improve resiliency and operational automation.

Service Level Owner (SLO) Responsibilities (≈30%)
- Define, monitor, and continuously improve SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs for critical platforms.
- Ensure system reliability, uptime, and performance across multiple enterprise applications.
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions.
- Drive operational excellence, resilience, and platform stability.
- Act as the single point of accountability for platform health and service outcomes.
- Partner cross‑functionally with QE, product, infrastructure, and support teams to improve reliability and delivery outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of hands‑on Java development experience (Java 8+).
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or production platform ownership.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance tuning, and scalability.
- Experience with CI/CD, cloud‑native platforms, and observability tooling.
- Proven experience owning production systems and leading incident response.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering, QE, and product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise‑scale or regulated platforms.
- Background in eligibility, enrollment, or large transaction‑based systems.
- Prior experience as a Technical Developer or DEVops.
- Strong governance, compliance, and operational maturity mindset.
Experience: 5-8 Years .
The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
