Lead Administrator – Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA), Azure & Hybrid

Role Summary

Senior DBA responsible for Azure SQL and hybrid (on‑prem + cloud) database operations, migrations, security compliance, and DR readiness. The role has a strong production support (O&M) focus with additional responsibility for migration execution and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

1) Azure DBA Operations (Production Support)

  • Day‑to‑day operational support for Azure SQL workloads
  • Proactive monitoring, incident response, and performance stabilization
  • Performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimization
  • Improve monitoring/alerting (noise reduction, thresholds, dashboards)
  • Automate DBA tasks: backups, retention workflows, job history, alert routing

2) Hybrid On‑Prem Support (Migration Period)

  • Support remaining on‑prem databases until migration completion
  • Security maintenance, release readiness, deployments, and change validation

3) Migration Delivery (On‑Prem → Azure SQL Managed Instance)

  • Execute and support reliable database migrations
  • Ensure performance parity, cutover readiness, and post‑migration stabilization
  • Partner with application and platform teams throughout migration lifecycle

4) Security, Compliance & Audit

  • Implement database security hardening and audit controls
  • Support CyberArk integration and privileged access compliance
  • Enable PHI safeguards, including de‑identification readiness

5) Disaster Recovery & Resilience

  • Validate and test Azure DR strategies for database workloads
  • Support DR documentation, evidence, and operational procedures

6) Continuous Improvement

  • Improve tooling for monitoring, automation, and performance analytics
  • Support schema governance, parity initiatives, and modernization efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Senior‑level DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server (strong O&M focus)
  • Hands‑on experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance
  • Experience in regulated environments (security, audits, compliance)
  • Strong skills in backup/restore, retention, monitoring, and alerting
  • Proven on‑prem to Azure migration experience
  • Required Certifications (current):
    • DP‑300: Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions
    • AZ‑900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CyberArk or PAM tools
  • PHI de‑identification and audit readiness experience
  • Azure DR validation and evidence generation
  • Exposure to PostgreSQL is a plus
Mandatory Skills: MSSQL Database Admin .

 

Experience: 5-8 Years .

 

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 .

 

Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
