Role Summary
The Director of Engineering is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, and delivery of large‑scale, cloud‑native products and platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role combines deep technical leadership with people and delivery leadership to build highly reliable, secure, and scalable systems aligned with Google engineering and SRE principles.
You will lead globally distributed engineering teams, partner closely with Product and Business stakeholders, and act as the senior engineering authority across new product development, cloud modernization, and platform transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end‑to‑end engineering leadership across product and platform lifecycles—design, build, deploy, and operate cloud‑native systems on GCP.
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for scalable, secure, and highly available platforms.
- Act as the senior engineering interface for stakeholders and leadership, owning technical decision‑making and delivery outcomes.
- Serve as a technical thought leader and advisor, guiding architecture choices, modernization approaches, and engineering best practices.
- Lead architectural design reviews and clearly communicate complex solutions to executive, product, and engineering audiences.
- Partner with Product, UX, SRE, Security, and Data teams to deliver well‑architected, operable, and cost‑efficient solutions.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies through POCs, structured evaluations, and data‑driven decision making.
- Build, scale, and mentor high‑performing, multi‑geo engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.

- Technical & Platform Expertise
- Strong experience building or modernizing enterprise or consumer‑grade platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Deep understanding of GCP services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud SQL/Spanner, Pub/Sub, and IAM.
- Expertise in distributed systems, microservices, API‑first architectures, and Kubernetes‑based platforms.
- Proficiency in backend engineering using Java, Go, and Python, with strong design and code quality practices.
- Experience with frontend technologies (Angular, React, GraphQL) supporting large‑scale user‑facing applications.
- Solid background in data platforms and analytics, including data pipelines, orchestration, warehousing, and BI.
- Ability to define and articulate cloud architecture for modernization and transformation and guide teams through technology selection.
Delivery & Execution Leadership
- Proven track record of delivering complex, large‑scale engineering programs from scoping through production and operations.
- Strong understanding of SRE, reliability engineering, observability, and operational excellence.
- Ability to balance engineering velocity, platform reliability, security, and cost optimization.
- Experience working in consultative, stakeholder‑facing environments, delivering measurable business outcomes.

Experience: >10 YEARS .
The expected compensation for this role ranges from $150,000 to $305,000 .
Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
