Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide Oracle database administration service as a consultant to the customer.
Able to define process for the customer for better DB management, which would result in better availability, security and performance. The individuals will be expected to be fully functional DBA’s who can perform traditional DBA activities, independently and guide team members too.
Able to provide escalation support whenever required.
On operational perspective, responsibilities include troubleshooting problems, working maintenance windows and providing 24x7 on-call supports on a rotational basis.
Key responsibilities
- Must have experience in 24/7 Oracle database production environments and be comfortable resolving support issues in stressful situations – this would include co-ordinating teams to resolve the issue.
- Practical knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate (setup and troubleshooting)
- Maintain all SQL / PLSQL processes.
- Ensure DB availability.
- Data Encryption, vpd, compression, working understanding of Disaster Recovery.
- Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB
- Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as required.
- Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for the DB.
- Ensure SLA's & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions/stakeholders.
- Create a reliable backup strategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
- Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage key relationships with business stakeholders like Operations/Build/Business teams, clear roadblocks and drive issues to closure
- Experience in evaluating changes to system and take best course of action.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage key risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies for the database portfolio.
- Automation of routine tasks.
- Provide Rotational On call support.
- Preparing Knowledge artefacts and update confluence/documents as required.
- Work within an ITIL framework for all work related activities (Change, Incident, & Problem management)
Skills:
- Proficient in Oracle 19c administration
- The position requires strong skills in Oracle SQL , PL/SQL, shell scripting to perform duties successfully.
- Support for APEX/ORDS
- Required Excellent written & verbal communication skills to present to stakeholders.
- Experience should include DB design (modelling and normalisation), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
- Operating system experience in Linux.
- Understand RAC concepts and standby database concepts.
- Architecture design principles.
- Good problem solver, focused and dedicated developer with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
- Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications-translating capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
- Strong practical experience of ORACLE in a production RAC (ASM) environment.
- Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience with an organization with a key reliance on 24x7 reliability on its database.
