Job Title: Senior Observability, Reliability & Performance Engineering Engineer
Experience: 8–10 Years

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Observability, Reliability & Performance Engineering Engineer to lead reliability and performance initiatives for Telstra’s cloud-native and digital platforms. The role focuses on designing scalable observability frameworks, ensuring system resilience, and driving performance optimization across large-scale distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise-grade observability solutions (monitoring, logging, tracing) across cloud and hybrid environments
- Lead performance engineering efforts, including testing, tuning, and system optimization
- Define and govern SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to ensure service reliability
- Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and postmortem processes for critical systems
- Drive automation of monitoring, alerting, and reliability processes
- Collaborate with cloud, DevOps, and application teams to improve platform resilience
- Define and implement capacity planning and scalability strategies
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
- Establish best practices for reliability, performance, and operational excellence

Required Skills:
- Strong experience in Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, New Relic)
- Hands-on expertise in performance testing tools (JMeter, LoadRunner, etc.) ]
- Deep understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / GCP)
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting (Python, Bash)
- Strong understanding of microservices and distributed system architectures
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
Telstra-Specific Expectations:
- Experience in large-scale telecom or enterprise environments
- Exposure to network systems, OSS/BSS, or high-traffic digital platforms
- Strong focus on SLA adherence, uptime, and performance optimization
- Experience in customer-facing delivery roles with strict SLAs
- Emphasis on reliability, resilience, and operational excellence
Good to Have:
- Experience with AIOps platforms and advanced observability tools
- Knowledge of container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation
- Relevant certifications in Cloud / SRE / Observability tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science / IT or related field
- 8–10 years of experience in SRE, observability, or performance engineering
