Role Purpose:

The Business Analyst is accountable for:

• shaping and defining the true business problem, opportunity and associated requirement, covering People, Process and Technology

• delivering solutions that resolve the business problem and setting out impacts and risks

• delivering the business analysis activities on projects and programmes

• integrity and alignment of the proposed and chosen solutions with business needs

• developing and professionalising themselves and the business analyst community

Responisbilities:

• Accountable for shaping and defining the business outcome o

Establish scope and introduce a clear process for making changes to the business, provisioning full audit trail o

Gather and analyse business requirements, using appropriate requirements documentation and management processes, encompassing functional and non-functional requirements o

Evaluate business needs against IT strategy and architecture roadmaps, driving consistency and maximising the leverage of existing architecture

• Accountable for delivering the business analysis activities on projects and programmes 

o Shape and develop project and programme business cases, business value, benefits realisation in an innovative and cost-effective way

o Support or manage service and/or product selection processes in line with the defined business need

o Engage core stakeholders (incl. sponsor, business representatives, programme & project managers) to drive awareness and buy-in 

Identify and manage internal and external dependencies, affecting solution design / implementation

o Recommend business solution options and support their detailed evaluation through investment appraisal, clearly highlighting the recommended option

o Apply and monitor use of modelling and analysis tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence), methods and standards.

• Accountable for integrity and alignment of the proposed and chosen solutions with the business needs o Identify and highlight business risks and issues within scope and propose escalation and resolution actions

o Demonstrate conceptual thinking and research skills, facilitating the design of solutions which account for future developments and changes

o Drive compliance with the Change and IT standards, frameworks, methodologies and governance; contribute to defining acceptance tests.

o Provide consultancy services and/or specialist expertise to IT & Change and Aviva, driving performance and improving quality of the delivery

• Accountable for development and professionalism of themselves and the business analyst community

o Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the services and products within the industry

o Keep abreast of the industry trends and best practice, sharing these with the wider community and applying as and when appropriate

o Share recent insights and lessons learnt with the wider community through active participation in the community briefings, blogs, presentations, etc

o Support and guide community new joiners, familiarising them with the business analysis approach, toolkit and frameworks

o Seek opportunities and attend external and internal seminars / training sessions that enhance professional development and deliver business value
