Role Purpose

The Sr Associate Network Engineer within Wipro Technologies-USA plays a critical role in delivering robust network architecture and infrastructure management. This position focuses on the strategic planning, detailed design, and reliable management of various network towers including platform, database, middleware, and backup systems. The role ensures seamless day-to-day network operations, underpinning the organization's global IT services with high availability and performance standards.

Responsibilities encompass the development and implementation of network design best practices, continuous improvement of network reliability, and collaboration across diverse teams to support an integrated and secure network environment. The incumbent will be empowered to influence technological advancements and operational frameworks aligned with evolving industry trends and organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous 24/7 monitoring and support of critical network infrastructure, encompassing coaxial, fiber optic, and wireless technologies, ensuring uninterrupted global connectivity for voice, data, SD-WAN, and security services.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams—including network engineers, data center operators, and external vendors—to swiftly diagnose and resolve complex network issues while supporting scheduled maintenance and emergency protocols.
  • Execute troubleshooting activities on essential network devices such as SD-WAN components, routers, switches, and firewalls with precision to uphold network integrity and performance standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive incident documentation, manage escalation workflows, and provide timely communication to leadership and stakeholders on network status and resolutions.
  • Leverage advanced Network Management System (NMS) tools and dashboards to monitor network performance indicators and proactively address anomalies in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Serve as vital first-tier support within the Global Network Delivery team, governing incident responses including alert triage, event correlation, and root cause analysis.
  • Administer and coordinate carrier-related maintenance activities through meticulously crafted advisory changes integrated within change management processes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules, including availability for weekends, nights, and holidays to ensure consistent network service coverage across global time zones.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or closely related technical discipline, or commensurate professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' progressive experience in Network Operations Center (NOC), help desk, or technical support roles focusing on enterprise network environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including Spanning Tree Protocol variants (PVST, MSTP, RSTP), Quality of Service (QoS), VPNs, Network Address Translation (NAT), VoIP, IPSec, multicast networking, DNS services, MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, VLAN trunking, and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco, Aruba, Meraki networking equipment, including switches and routers.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring platforms like CA Spectrum or Logic Monitor, and IT service management tools such as ServiceNow or Cherwell.
  • Experience with advanced technologies including Velocloud SD-WAN, Aruba/Meraki Nexus switches, Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls, and Zscaler security solutions is a distinct advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage switch upgrade projects and refresh cycles, ensuring minimal disruption and optimized network performance.
  • Basic comprehension of public cloud networking principles, especially within the Azure cloud ecosystem.

Key Competencies for Success:

  • Advanced routing and switching skills, specifically with BGP, OSPF, Spanning Tree, LACP, and TCP/IP.
  • Demonstrated experience with Meraki network products.
  • Proficiency in SD-WAN technologies, particularly VeloCloud.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement network changes during designated maintenance windows, including off-hours, ensuring minimal impact to business operations.
  • Create and manage network change requests aligned with incident tickets, following rigorous change management protocols.
  • Execute comprehensive Lifecycle Management (LCM) functions to maintain network device health, compliance, and documentation accuracy.
  • Conduct Vulnerability Management activities to proactively identify and remediate potential security issues within the network infrastructure.
  • Identify appropriate escalation paths for incidents and ensure timely closure aligned with operational procedures and service level agreements.
  • Maintain adherence to established engineering and change management standards, documenting all network modifications accurately.
  • Provide expert network triage support, resolving complex incidents and serving as a second-tier resource when S1 escalation is required.
  • Participate actively in on-call support rotations, offering critical escalation support during non-business hours to maintain continuous network operations.

The expected compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $135,000 .

 

Final compensation will depend on various factors, including your geographical location, minimum wage obligations, skills, and relevant experience. Based on the position, the role is also eligible for Wipro's standard benefits including a full range of medical and dental benefits options, disability insurance, paid time off (inclusive of sick leave), other paid and unpaid leave options.
