Job Description: Playwright Technical Lead

Location: Chennai,Bangalore,Hyderabad
Experience Level: 8–12+ Years
Technical Focus: Playwright, TypeScript or JavaScript, Selenium Java, CI/CD

 

Role Overview

As a Technical Lead, you will serve as the technical authority for our quality engineering organization. You will lead the strategic transition of our automation landscape from legacy Selenium Java to a modern Playwright + TypeScript ecosystem for a high-dependency client. This role demands a high-level architect who can design scalable frameworks, mentor vendor teams, and establish rigorous code quality standards. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Framework Architecture: Design, build, and maintain a robust, scalable end-to-end automation framework using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Strategic Migration: Lead the migration of legacy Selenium Java test suites to Playwright, specifically optimizing for execution speed, stability, and broad cross-browser coverage.
  • Engineering Governance: Actively manage vendor engineering teams by conducting high-standard Pull Request (PR) reviews, enforcing Clean Code principles, and ensuring alignment with global automation best practices.
  • CI/CD Orchestration: Architect and integrate automated quality gates into DevOps pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) to support high-frequency releases.
  • Performance Optimization: Leverage Playwright-native features like auto-waiting, parallelization, and network interception to eliminate "flaky" tests and reduce feedback loops.
  • Technical Leadership: Define automation roadmaps, select appropriate tooling, and provide technical mentorship to Senior and Lead SDETs. 

 

Required Technical Skills

  • Primary Stack: Expert-level proficiency in Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Legacy Expertise: Strong background in Selenium Java with experience building enterprise-grade frameworks from scratch.
  • Languages: Deep knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript and Core Java.
  • Pipeline Tools: Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and containerization (Docker).
  • API Testing: Proficiency in API automation using Playwright, RestAssured, or Postman.
