Role

Senior Automation Developers to execute the migration of existing automation workloads from AWX (open-source Ansible Tower) to Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP). The role focuses on assessing current AWX assets, recreating and validating AAP equivalents (inventories, credentials, projects, templates, workflows, schedules)

 Discovery & Assessment Support

  • Support the client SME/Lead to assess current AWX automation assets including inventories, credentials, projects, job templates, and workflows, and map them to AAP constructs.
  • Create an inventory of migration objects such as projects/repositories, job templates/workflows, inventories (static/dynamic/smart), credential types

 Migration Execution (AWX → AAP)

  • Execute migration of automation workloads from AWX to AAP in alignment with agreed SOPs and governance.
  • Migrate automation content:
    • Configure AAP projects for job templates
    • Migrate and validate playbooks, roles, and collections
  • Recreate operational constructs in AAP:
    • Rebuild inventories and inventory sources.
    • Recreate credentials and ensure secure handling of secrets as provided by the client
  • Recreate automation execution logic:
    • Rebuild job templates and workflow job templates (linear, conditional, approval-based where applicable).
    • Configure job schedules and align migrated assets with client-defined execution environments and platform standards.

Must Have (Technical)

  • Strong hands-on experience in Ansible automation development (playbooks, roles, collections, YAML best practices).
  • Proven experience working with AWX / Ansible Tower concepts: organizations/teams, job templates, workflow templates, inventories, credentials, RBAC.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on ability with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) constructs including:
    • Projects, inventories/inventory sources, credentials/credential types
    • Job templates, workflow job templates, schedules
    • Execution environments alignment to platform standards
  • Strong Git-based source control experience (repo migration/structure, branching, PR reviews).
  • Automation testing mindset: functional parity checks, execution validation, failure analysis and troubleshooting.
