Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to resolve high-priority incidents through advanced troubleshooting, ensure SLA compliance, analyse system performance trends, and create mitigation measures by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Areas of responsibility

Triaging and resolution of tickets-Provide resolution to high priority incident (P2) tickets, performing advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to ensure timely closure.

SLA Monitoring-Ensure SLA compliance for assigned technology areas and ensure proactive escalation management.

Performance tuning and optimization-Analyse system performance data, coordinate findings on system behaviour, and support capacity planning initiatives to enhance overall system efficiency.

Perform system Improvements-Create mitigation measures to evaluate new tools or improvements by collaborating with technical teams.

Handling disaster recovery-Perform security assessments and recovery drills, and implement necessary controls to ensure compliance with established security standards.

Reporting and stakeholder engagement-Participate in weekly and monthly service review meetings, provide updates on performance and issues, and support stakeholder communication to ensure transparency and service alignment.

Team Management-Collaborate with team members to resolve open tickets and service requests.

Knowledge base and continuous learning  Contribute to updating SOPs, knowledge articles and maintaining the knowledge repository for the purpose of future ticket resolution.

Exp - 7+ years

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
• Minimum of 7+ years’ experience as a NetBackup Administrator with sound knowledge of product, features and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of various backups and restores like VMWare, Oracle, Filesystem and troubleshooting them. 
• Understanding of storage devices like NetBackup Appliances, Dell Data Domains and troubleshooting the problems on these devices. 
• Sound knowledge on NetBackup SLP, Duplications, NetBackup Snapshot Manager. 
• Having good knowledge on reporting tools like NetBackup OpsCenter, Aptare IT Analytics and Splunk. 
• Understanding of platforms like SAN, NAS, Virtualization and S3 protocols 
• Having experience of representing the team in Incident, Problem and Crisis calls. 
• Accountability for delivery – takes ownership of tasks assigned to ultimate resolution with minimal supervision
• Understanding of storage policies, Schedule policies, data aging concepts in CommVault
• Oracle backups/restore integration with CommVault
• Configuration and troubleshooting of SAN Client backup (Fiber Transport)
• Clear understanding on SLP and Vault
• Upgrading and patching the Backup servers

 

• Main activities Perform regular system maintenance; including Incident solving; Change implementation; Patch management; Analyze/solve performance and security issues Complex backup scheduling maintenance also includes helping solve complex problems related to operating system; databases; middleware or applications teams
• Troubleshoot backup failure issues on daily basis for Oracle, VMware, Filesystem.
• Checking and helping end users for Oracle restore failures.
• Supporting change requests for backup infrastructure.
• Coordinating with vendors for various software and hardware issues till resolution.
• Participating in Crisis calls, problem management calls and escalated issues.
• Analysing backup failure trends, generating automation ideas for fixing those trends 
• Troubleshooting CommVault backup failures for IntelliSnap and Oracle backups 
• Troubleshooting Datadomain, NetBackup Appliance and HyperScale issues.
