Secondary Skill -    Network security and firewall technologies , FortiGate Firewalls – Firewall policies, VPNs, routing, multi-VDOM.

L3/L2 Network Engineer – Enterprise Connectivity (SDN / Security / Wireless) Role Overview As an L3/L2 Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise connectivity solutions across campus and data center environments. You will support software-defined networking, security infrastructure, and cloud-integrated services to ensure stable, secure, and scalable operations. This role focuses on day-to-day operations, incident resolution, and network performance optimization, while collaborating with engineering, security, and operations teams to maintain a reliable and resilient enterprise network ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Support

  • Monitor and maintain enterprise network infrastructure across campus and data center environments
  • Perform L2/L3 troubleshooting of network, security, and connectivity issues
  • Ensure adherence to incident management and escalation processes

Incident & Problem Management

  • Diagnose and resolve: 
    • Network outages and performance issues
    • Routing, firewall, wireless, and SDN-related incidents
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and support problem management activities
  • Work on major incidents in coordination with cross-functional teams

Network Monitoring & Performance

  • Monitor network health using tools and dashboards (Catalyst Center, FortiAnalyzer, etc.)
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimization measures
  • Ensure high availability and uptime of services

Configuration & Change Management

  • Execute network configurations and changes in line with change management processes
  • Assist in deployment and validation of network upgrades and enhancements
  • Maintain configuration standards and documentation

Security & Compliance

  • Support implementation of: 
    • Firewall policies
    • Network segmentation
    • Identity and access control (ISE)
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely with: 
    • Architects and engineering teams for implementation
    • Security teams for compliance
    • Operations teams for service continuity
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives

Technology Stack / Scope • Cisco SD-Access – Troubleshooting SDA fabric, VXLAN overlays, SDA policies • Catalyst Center (DNA Center) – Network monitoring, provisioning support, assurance workflows • NDFC (Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller) – Monitoring and troubleshooting VXLAN EVPN data center fabrics • Cisco ISE – AAA troubleshooting, endpoint profiling issues • FortiManager – Firewall configuration management and policy updates • FortiAnalyzer – Log monitoring, reporting, and security analysis • FortiGate Firewalls – Firewall policies, VPNs, routing, multi-VDOM • BGP Routing – Monitoring and troubleshooting eBGP/iBGP • Aruba Wireless – APs, controllers, SSIDs, ClearPass integration [L3_L2 Netw...eer - JD 1 | Word] Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills • Strong experience in: o Enterprise networking (L2/L3 switching & routing) o Network troubleshooting and incident resolution • Knowledge of: o SDN concepts and Cisco SD-Access o Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF – preferred) o Network security and firewall technologies o Wireless networking (Aruba preferred) Platform Expertise • Hands-on experience with: o Cisco SD-Access and Catalyst Center o Cisco ISE o Fortinet stack (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer) o Data center networking (VXLAN/EVPN exposure preferred) Additional Skills • Basic scripting/automation (Python or similar – preferred) • Understanding of cloud networking concepts (AWS/Azure – preferred) • Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) Experience Requirements • L2 Engineer: 3–5 years of experience in enterprise networking • L3 Engineer: 5–8+ years of experience with advanced troubleshooting and escalation handling • Proven experience in: o Supporting enterprise or data center networks o Handling major incidents and critical issues Behavioral & Soft Skills • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills • Effective communication and stakeholder coordination • Ability to work in 24x7 support environments • Proactive mindset with focus on continuous improvement Preferred Certifications • Cisco (CCNA / CCNP Enterprise) • Fortinet NSE certifications • Aruba certifications (optional / preferred) Why This Role Matters This role ensures: • Operational stability and high availability of enterprise networks • Faster incident resolution and reduced downtime • Continuous optimization and modernization of network infrastructure
