Job Description – Arista Networks Engineer

Role Summary

The Arista Networks Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and optimizing high‑performance data center and spine‑leaf network architectures using Arista EOS–based switches. The role ensures scalable, low‑latency, highly available network infrastructure supporting enterprise, cloud, and mission‑critical workloads while adhering to security, compliance, and governance standards.


Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Implementation

  • Design and deploy Arista-based data center networks using spine‑leaf architecture
  • Implement Layer 2 / Layer 3 designs including:
    • EVPN‑VXLAN
    • BGP‑based fabrics
    • MLAG
  • Support greenfield and brownfield network deployments

Arista EOS Configuration & Operations

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Arista EOS switches
  • Manage routing protocols:
    • BGP, OSPF
    • MLAG, ECMP
  • Perform software upgrades, patching, and image management
  • Ensure high availability and redundancy across the fabric

Data Center & Cloud Connectivity

  • Support data center interconnects (DCI)
  • Integrate on‑prem networks with cloud environments (Azure / AWS / GCP)
  • Enable secure hybrid and multi‑cloud connectivity

Automation & Network Programmability

  • Leverage Arista EOS APIs and automation tools
  • Work with:
    • Python
    • Ansible
    • REST / eAPI
  • Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and network automation initiatives

Operations, Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Provide L2/L3 support for production networks
  • Troubleshoot complex performance and availability issues
  • Monitor network health, latency, throughput, and capacity
  • Conduct RCA for major incidents

Security & Compliance

  • Implement network security best practices:
    • ACLs
    • Segmentation
    • Secure routing
  • Support Zero Trust and enterprise security architectures
  • Maintain governance documentation and support audits

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain network diagrams, configurations, and SOPs
  • Follow enterprise change, incident, and release management processes
  • Support customer reviews, audits, and compliance checks

Required Technical Skills

Arista & Networking

  • Strong hands‑on experience with Arista switches and EOS
  • Deep understanding of data center networking
  • EVPN‑VXLAN and BGP‑centric designs

Networking Fundamentals

  • TCP/IP, VLANs, MTU, ACLs
  • Routing & switching concepts
  • High availability and redundancy designs

Automation & Tools

  • Ansible / Python for network automation
  • Git / CI‑CD exposure for network infrastructure
  • Monitoring and telemetry tools

Experience & Qualifications

  • 4–8+ years of experience in enterprise or data center networking
  • Hands‑on experience managing production-grade networks
  • Experience supporting BFSI / large scale enterprise customers preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and operational ownership

    • Forecast talent requirements as per the current and future business needs
    • Hire adequate and right resources for the team 
    • Train direct reportees to make right recruitment and selection decisions 
  • Talent Management
    • Ensure 100% compliance to Wipro’s standards of adequate onboarding and training for team members to enhance capability & effectiveness
    • Build an internal talent pool of HiPos and ensure their career progression within the organization
    • Promote diversity in leadership positions
  • Performance Management
    • Set goals for direct reportees, conduct timely performance reviews and appraisals, and give constructive feedback to direct reports.
    • Ensure that organizational programs like Performance Nxt are well understood and that the team is taking the opportunities presented by such programs to their and their levels below
  • Employee Satisfaction and Engagement
    • Lead and drive engagement initiatives for the team
    • Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement within the team
    • Proactively challenge the team with larger and enriching projects/ initiatives for the organization or team 
    • Exercise employee recognition and appreciation
