About the Role

Client powers the global cloud infrastructure and developer platform providing back-end services for Samsung's billions of devices. Client's data center footprint is within 100ms latency to 70% of the world's population, while our multi-cloud, Kubernetes-based developer platform extends our reach to additional resource regions. We're operating at hyperscale to power workloads that bring capability and delight to Samsung's employees and customers.

We are looking for an experienced cloud platform and infrastructure project manager who is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of assigned projects that include all technology required to build and maintain cloud infrastructure, core platform and associated SaaS services. The project manager is responsible for delivering technology solutions that adhere to our high standards and are in coordination with the overall projected delivery targets.
Working with global development teams, business stakeholders and our customers to deliver cloud platform services such as compute, storage and data platform.

The Project Manager will develop project plans, manage project budget, identify critical path, manage risks, develop and track detailed work plans, prioritize tasks, identify and address scope changes, resource constraints, possible project delays, resolve delivery issues and provide status reporting for each assigned project and be responsible for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. The project manager will also identify missing policies and processes and develop them by working with different stakeholders.

This is not a people manager role. We are NOT looking for a person from a pure consulting background. Managing projects in Product Development/Platform Development in a Cloud environment is extremely important. The ideal candidate would have experience working in Project Management focused functions such as PMO. While the candidate should be highly experienced and proficient with professional project management practices, it’s equally important to have deep technical skills and understanding of cloud products as well.

What You Will Do

• Project Delivery: Deliver technology implementations that adhere to our high standards and are in coordination with the overall projected delivery targets. Understand the security compliance requirements and plan deliverables accordingly.

• Prioritization: Strike the right balance among multiple stakeholders’ demands, prioritize tasks effectively and interact with a global team on a regular basis.

• Process Management: Identify missing policies and processes and work on creation processes and ensure compliance. Identify repetitive tasks and develop processes to manage them more effectively.

• Project Planning and Reporting: Create the project plan in self-directed manner by having a little direction and managing assignments sometime in a bit ambiguous environment. Create project reports using tools to communicate the status of projects regularly.

• Cross-functional team coordination: Lead projects coming from cross functional teams and manage complex dependencies. Manage ad hoc requests from different stakeholders.

• Strong project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor projects effectively. This includes proficiency in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation.

• Effective communication is critical to convey project goals, requirements, and progress to stakeholders, team members, and other relevant parties. Technical project managers should excel in both verbal and written communication.

• Able to handle multiple projects concurrently.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members across different time zones and locations.

What Makes You Eligible

• 5+ years senior leadership experience in successfully planning, implementing, managing and continuously improving large-scale, global infrastructure and cloud platform programs/projects/solutions and capabilities (e.g., technical deliverables, policies, processes, teams, measures, tools and reporting)

• 5+ years senior leadership experience successfully building collaborative relationships with clients, executives, business partners, team members and partner/vendors to successfully deliver on technology vision, direction, strategies and key priorities pertaining to project and program planning.

• 3+ years of experience in Cloud related projects, specifically leading projects in the Kubernetes domain.

• Understanding of Service Mesh concepts, Istio in Kubernetes is mandatory.

• Experience with and understanding products such as Google Anthos, Azure Arc, or any multi-Kubernetes solution is preferred.

• 10+ years of total technology industry experience.

• Deep understanding and experience of a Project Management tool is mandatory. Candidates managing projects without any professional project management tool will not be considered

• Well versed with Agile methodologies

• Any certification such as PMP is preferred but not mandatory

• Able to handle multiple projects concurrently

• Bilingual in Korean and English
