Job Purpose: 
This role involves executing projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. The role holder ensures seamless execution of operations in assigned function by completion of their tasks. They assist their supervisors in managerial tasks. While this role is largely an individual contributor role, in some cases they may lead a small team. The role holder should be able to collaborate with other teams and proactively identify and resolve issues in their span of work.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate independently under general supervision, making decisions based on defined guidelines and practices.
  2. Work with teams across functions to deliver on specific project deliverables or achieve outcomes in their span of work 
  3. Work with external stakeholders (ex: vendors) to deliver in their area of work,
  4. Create plans and drive their execution to ensure deliverables are met in their span of work   
  5. Assist supervisor in completion of managerial tasks & responsibilities. 
  6. Oversee operations to guarantee adherence to policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  7. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute ideas for enhancing efficiency.
  8. Address and resolve issues within a, sub process, or constituent group.
  9. Mentor team members, in case the role holder is managing a team.
  10. Exhibit full professional competency in their area of work -  using acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete moderately difficult assignments/projects/tasks

Software Licensing & Compliance

  • Manage end-to-end software license lifecycle for major publishers (e.g., Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, SAP, Autodesk etc).
  • Interpret software license agreements, contracts, and entitlements.
  • Ensure license compliance and risk mitigation across the enterprise.
  • Support internal and external software audits, including preparation, defense, and closure activities.

Software Asset Management Operations

  • Implement and operate SAM frameworks aligned with ITAM / SAM standards.
  • Maintain accurate Effective License Position (ELP).
  • Identify license shortfalls, over-deployment, and optimization opportunities.
  • Drive re-harvesting, true-ups, and demand planning.
  • Configure and manage SAM tools such as:
    • Flexera / FlexNet Manager
    • ServiceNow SAM / SAM Pro
    • Othe SAM tools
  • Integrate inventory sources and normalize software data, integrations,
  • Generate compliance, optimization, and executive reports.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams.
  • Support procurement in license negotiations and renewals.
  • Provide licensing guidance to project teams and application owners.
  • Communicate compliance posture and financial impact to leadership.
  • Define and improve SAM policies, standards, and processes.
  • Track changes in licensing models and publisher policies.
  • Support SAM maturity assessments and roadmap executions.
  • Expertise in SAM tools (Flexera, ServiceNow SAM).
  • Understanding of ITIL / ITAM / SAM best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITAM / SAM certifications (e.g., IAITAM, Flexera, ServiceNow).
  • Experience in consulting or managed services environments.
  • Exposure to cloud licensing models (Microsoft Azure, M365, SaaS).
